Hellooo. Just wanted to say that I'm back, as those of you who follow my twitter will most likely know by now. I had a lovely time and I thank you guys for the tweets and comments while I was away - I'm pretty sure I'm all caught up on things now, after 35 emails, 177 LJ messages, 500 timeline tweets and a whole lot of tumblr posts and flist entries. How did the holiday itself break down, you ask? Well, I went with my family down to Gippsland, which is a pretty rural country area, and stayed at my dad's unit in Morwell (population 13,000). What we did -
Day 1; Drove up - the drive from here to there is about two hours at best, more like three in practise. Did a ridiculous amount of food shopping to tide us over, ate and settled in.
Day 2; Drove up to Lake's Entrance which is a very pretty little town with lots of boats and family stuff. That night we watched State Of Play on my laptop which is a really good little movie. I think I might be a Russell Crowe fan now.
Day 3; Went shopping in Traralgon though I didn't buy much, just some board shorts, some thongs (read: flip-flops) and my friend Laura's belated Christmas present. Then we went to the pool for a while and had some ice cream, and in the evening we went to see Avatar. I'm on the fence about it really, because while it was an absolutely gorgeous film the plot didn't really excite me that much. They didn't go light on the metaphors, did they? I can indeed see what all the fuss is about though. Did you guys like it?
Day 4; The beach! We bummed on down to Inverloch, possibly my favourite place in Victoria, and chilled out on the beach for a good few hours, which resulted in the sunburn on my shoulder I've been complaining about. (Thankfully I managed to dodge the bullet and not get sunburnt anywhere else, which is kind of a miracle considering my bathers are strapless). Then souvenir shopping and more ice cream before we headed back.
Day 5; Up early, McDonald's for breakfast and then home.
You know, now that I type it out it doesn't sound too exciting, but it was super relaxing. In that emo post I made about wanting to get away I imagined a holiday like this and it really was just what I needed - I feel all refreshed and happy now. I'll link to pics when I put them in my LJ scrapbook! In the meantime, who wants a
