I open my eyes and quickly sat up from the bed. I lean my face against my hands and breathe heavily.
That again... I tried many times to forget it but I’ll always end up dreaming about it, how they took my brother and leaved something that, sure, I will never forget.
“Dreamed about it again?”
I looked up and saw my childhood friend, Dara. I weakly smiled and nodded. She smiled at me and sat next to me.
“You woke up before your alarm clock. Is it a good thing, huh? “she told me with a smirk. I smiled and looked at the clock, 6:15? five minutes advance, huh?
“It’s okay. It’s better than to be late. Take a bath now. I can smell your bad breath.” She added. I quickly grabbed a pillow and I was about to throw at her when suddenly,
“Vampires are coming.”
I stopped at my action and looked at her. My body trembled and I can feel anger through out my body, yet, I’m scared. Her eyes are looking directly at me. She was looking outside my window a while ago.
“I had a dream. They are many, like a family clan. I know. They have a reason for coming here. They know where we live. Five siblings, four men and a lady. They’re coming to…”
“To what?” I answered quickly. Yes, Dara is an angel, like me. We are given powers to protect ourselves and the mortals. Vampires are our biggest enemy. Our family is known for killing the vampires, well, vampire-hunters, who crossed the line, such as killing mortals, angels and transforming human to a beast. I called them beasts ever since they took my brother away from us, from me. I still don’t know if they killed my brother or he is still alive, or worse, transform him to become one of them.
My brother is the ace of our generation. He’s the third one next to our grandfather and our cousin, Yoon Eun Hye. But, all the generation’s aces were not lucky. My grandfather ended up dying for the sake of our family while my cousin, married a vampire, Eli is the name. It’s totally forbidden for vampires and angels to love each other and worse, have a baby. They had a baby. Eun Hye and the baby are in our hands. Eun Hye was imprisoned. The baby? She is alive and there’s nothing wrong with her but our family still investigating them like criminals. How about Eli? We all know he was in torment. And my brother, well, took by those blood-sucking vampires.
“To what, Dara? I’m talking to you.” I turned serious this time. My brother is involved, well including me…
“We’ll remember you and we will come back to get you.” It keeps bothering me every night. That voice and that name...
“They’re coming to get you and there are two reasons why. One is to revenge. The other one is…” she looked down and took a deep breath. I patiently waited for her. She turned around and looked at me. Her eyes suddenly changed into blue-white eyes, meaning she’s serious, ready to transform into an angel, thinking deeply and worried. Sometimes it means they are angry.
“…..is unknown.”
It shocked me. What did she mean by unknown? I nodded and leaved the bed. I was about to open my bathroom’s door when she speak again.
“Be ready. That scar of yours is the reason why they knew where we are. It’s also their only key for destroying you. That’s the only key.”
“I already knew that. Stop reminding me. You don’t know how it feels for having this. Every night ever since that night, I always have that nightmare. Every three days in a week, this scar glows red and it will hurts like hell. How I wished I could have die right now so-“
All of a sudden, I felt hands at my back. “Don’t say that. We’re here for you.”
Her hands roamed at my back then hugged me. She leaned her face at my back, like smelling me. I feel like crying but I fight them all. I’m tired of crying.
“I know. As your master, I want to be alone right now. When I’m done, I’ll go down, meet me as a friend.” She pulled away. I can see her bowing and smiling through the reflection of my bathroom glass-door.
“Yes, Master.”I slowly walked to the bathroom and shut it without turning my body, just using my hand. I softly smiled because I know, she understands me.
You heard it right. Before that night, Kyuhyun is the most-respected person in our clan after our father. He’s the most skilled in Angel Cross Race (all families of angels), and friendly, yet, he’s responsible for everything he was assigned. While me, I’m always the second. But that was before, being the second and youngest son, I take all the responsibilities that Kyuhyun left, although I know, my father doesn’t want me in that place. He never paid attention to me. It’s always him, Kyuhyun. If I only given a chance to bring back the time, I want a normal life, with my friends, with my brother, with my mom. No bad memories, no pain.

“I can’t believe this is our last year in this school. I still don’t want to go. ” Jessica said, puffing her cheeks and pouting, joining me in sightseeing from above with Sungmin. We are located at the rooftop wherein we can see the students entering the school that looks like ants. She’s my friend since I entered high school while Sungmin is my childhood friend, both human. I sighed and focused at the students.
“And I can do what everything I want now when you leave. Oh god, I wish this is the last day of our school. I’ll be so happy.” We turned around and saw my friend, Jessica’s sister, Krystal, an angel. I chuckled lightly along with Krystal and Sungmin. I slowly turned my gaze again to the students. Jessica nudged me and pouted. She glared at her and raised an eyebrow.
“Sorry, but you see, it’s our first day today. You can’t do anything about it. I’ll still watch you from afar. I will never let you have a boyfriend!” Jessica mocked.
“Oh my god. Mind your own life and love!” Krystal teased.
“Oh my… It will never last again.” Sungmin whispered. We both shook our head.
I smiled to their mischievousness and focused more at the students, still bickering. That’s how they show their love for each other. They are even sisters. I can’t imagine how they treat each other at home. Something’s bothering you? Yes, even though Jessica is a human, her sister, Krystal is an angel. How? Well, their mother is an angel while their father is a pure human. Krystal inherited their mother’s blood while Jessica didn’t received any from it. But it’s okay for her. She didn’t like the inherited-angel’s-blood-idea from the start. She loves being human.
“What the heck- It’s so early! Shut up you two!” I looked who is it and saw an irritating face on his. Leeteuk-hyung glared at them and it made them shut their mouth. The rest of his company-HyunSeong, Dara, Youngmin, Key, UEE- giggled at their behavior while the two frown at them. Leeteuk-hyung is in senior year, same with us, an angel. But he’s three times much older than me. That means, he repeated the senior year three times. Believe me, he’s smart. The only reason why he keeps repeating is because of me. He wants to protect me as a friend. And of course, as a leader of my-so-called-defenders, “Special Fortification League” Damn, why so cheesy….can’t do anything about it…our ancestors were the one who named it…
“Yeah, that’s not good in our first day. Let’s go down now. 20 minutes remaining.” Youngmin gently told us.
“I’ll stay for a while. I’ll follow.” I said, while looking at Leeteuk-hyung. All of them looked at me. I weakly smiled and turned around. I can feel them still staring at me.
“Humans, mind if you’ll go down first?” UEE said, my cousin, the second to the eldest of the famous ‘Yoon Four Gracious Sisters’ along with Eun Hye, Sunye and Suzy. Yes, Eun Hye is the Ace 2nd generation. And of course, she has the ability to read one’s mind, knowing I’m uneasy again about things I heard.
Jessica and Sungmin looked at each other. Then Sungmin whispered to me, “O-Okay...We’ll go down first...” I nodded and flashed them a smile. He grabbed Jessica’s wrist and pulled her. They keep whispering to each other even though they are now walking towards the exit. I turned so I can see them leaving.
“See. You’re so noisy that’s why we were kicked out now.”
“Yah. Am I the only one? It’s my angel-but-evil-sister who started it first.”
“It is still your fault!”
“Aiisshh~ I’m not the reason, you know? They’ll have their private meeting again. Stop blaming me.”
“Okay, okay, I got it. Stop it already. Let’s go and I’ll show you my new collection of pink earphones.”

I smiled. I even heard Krystal chuckled. Then they were gone. I only can hear now their giggles that echoed along the staircase. I looked down and my smile faded as soon as the cold wind touched my skin that sends me shiver all over my body. I looked up and saw them all, serious; eyes are in blue-white form. I turned around and faced the nice view of our campus and some houses from afar.
“They’re coming. I saw three of them, wearing the same uniform like with us. Two guys and one girl, sure they are waiting for someone. I’m with HyunSeong when we saw them.” Key explained.
“The girl looked at us. Her eyes grew bigger. But the next thing she did was unexpected. She bowed to us and weakly smiled. We also bowed to show some respect, of course. She knew what are we, yet, she showed respect despite our identity.” HyunSeong added and sighed. I cleared my throat and touched the metal-made barricade.
“Did you get the information?” I asked after several seconds passed. This time I turned around.
“Dara got it a while ago. Dara, say it.” UEE answered quickly. She gestured her hand to Dara. She immediately read the documents she got. I looked sideways and I focused in listening to every word she’ll tell me.
“Seo Joohyun, mostly known as Seo Hyun. 16 years old, the youngest and the only girl among the five famous vampire siblings. Lee Taemin, also 16 years old, five months difference with Seo hyun. Kim Heechul, the eldest, 20 years old, followed by Kim Jaejoong, a 18-year-old and a 17-year-old guy named Lee-…”
I heard Dara stopped. I waited about 5 seconds but still, she didn’t continue. I turned my head to her, and raised an eyebrow. Dara was intently looking at the paper while others stared sadly at me. I unbuttoned the three buttons of my shirt to breathe. It suddenly became hot in my position. I sighed and looked at her again, this time, my eyes, became bright blue.
“You’re wasting my time. Who’s that third one?” I calmly said.
“You won’t like it if we say the name, Hyuk.” Leeteuk-hyung looked at my neck. I noticed him looking to it. I massaged it for a while and stared at her again. My god, just tell me… I frowned and walked slowly, approaching Dara with my irritated face.
“10 minutes remaining. Are you going to tell me? Or I’ll come to you and I’ll be the one to read that? Just tell-“
“Lee Donghae.”
I stopped walking and talking. My eyes directly focused at her. All of them are looking at me. I gulped and rolled my eyes. I quickly turned around and breathe some air I need. I caressed my hair and bit my lower lip. The guy who is the only one I remembered that night, will show up now.
“I guess this is the end of our meeting.”
I said after several seconds. I turned around and walked hurriedly. The rest followed me and our eyes became normal again. During our walk, I closed the buttons of my shirt so no one can notice my scar that luckily, ever since I entered high school, nobody noticed it.
As soon as we reached the first floor, students looked at us. Girls are whispering, giggling and the most irritating, squealing. Guys are plainly looking at us. I really didn’t pay attention to them. There’s only one person I’m thinking right now.
