Oh I nearly forgot to review this and it got pushed all the way back here by a certain fic :o

Anyway, I love this glimpse of an alternate O'Laughlin, one which fell hopelessly in love with Van Pelt despite trying not to, even if it did make him feel like he could cope with the task. It reads like a perfectly smushy love letter, though it's also very sad indeed. In a way, receiving this after what happened would be all the more devastating for Van Pelt. *sniff*

Thanks! Exactly the effect I was going for, it really would have been devastating to receive a letter telling you what you'd probably been doubting the moment you found out who he was. I imagine VP would have, she trusts, but she also doubts. :(
