Saturday I went into my glass studio and fired up my bead torch. I finally had everything in place and ready to make beads, plus I got some new books that have some wonderful techniques and I wanted to start practicing. I definitely need to do more practicing. I have diagnosed the main issue as to not holding the bead mandrel (metal rod) level while winding the hot glass on it.
So here are the results: Mellie: 15 - Hot Head Torch: 1
I made 15 beads.
Hot Head Torch - 1
That is the inside of my right forearm. I deliberately setup my bead station so that I would not be reaching across myself to put beads away. I had turned off the torch after finishing and inspecting a bead. Then I reached across to lift the fiber blanket to put the bead away, during which my forearm touched the end of the torch head. That is a 1-inch diameter circle. And yes it blistered. And no, it doesn't really hurt unless I scrape my arm against something. And yes, I learned my lesson and will not do that again.
