I think Orwells view on the abuse of language is true but only to a certain extent. The way language is spoken is not acceptable to those with a higher class spoken background or those who are well educated. In saying this, i think Orwells piece "politics & the english language" does not make a positive contribution to the improvement of the english language as it very much confuses the reader by contradicting much of what Orwell speaks in one sentence to another. As evident as is seems that the english language has changed, it does not necessarily mean it has failed, the english language has grown into another dimension. The growth in technology with the use of mobile phones has meant text abbreviations. These words still mean the same they are just typed differently. I agree that certain aspects of the english language have been forgotten such as the pronunciation of words, but as long as the language is being understood universally, should we really aim to right a wrong??
