and his friend, well, was a pickle.

Today was amazing.

Granted, it started a little rough.  You see, I was awake when today started.  At midnight, I was sitting in The Owl & Thistle, an Irish pub in Seattle, a block from the ferry.  Although I was still singing from the Brett Dennen concert I had just attended, my feet were sore and I was tiiiiired.  At 1:00am, I was on the ferry, chowing down on an overpriced bag of Cheddar & Sour Cream chips (holy moly), and trying to see the Sound past my reflection in the window (man did my hair look awesome yesterday).  At 2:00am, I was finally putting down my journal and book (a ritual that I have so much trouble breaking), and finally settling into bed.  A mere five and a half hours later, I woke up to finish the day.

SOP (School Overnight Program) takes a lot of energy, and I wonder sometimes if I left my energy reserve on that beautiful farm in Pennsylvania, where it seems as if I never run out.  So this morning, dragging myself down the trail, I wondered how I was going to get past the feeling that I was running on less than six hours of sleep.  That's when Yellowcard came on my iPod, followed by "Chickenman" (Indigo Girls).  I can't not dance and sing to that goodness.  I had a chance to chat with Mom on the phone, and as usual, she made me laugh and secretly wish that her and Dad would just move to the Island.  :0)

Then, I met my kids.  They are AWESOME!  We had a blast of a day, and it went by so quickly, I couldn't believe it.  I tried something new with one of the standard lessons, and it went over beautifully.  Not only that, but while I was doing it, their classroom teacher was shadowing me, and she said it was great.  Dukes!  Tonight we did an Instructor Presents campfire, and I told The Pickle Story, which I just love.  All good.

And even though it's only quarter to nine, I'm already in my pajamas, and I'm happily going back to my old ways.

Goodnight, Grandma (as my girls say).  :0)

xoxo
