Stuff that made Nancy happy today

1. I taught my first class! The kids FLEW through the activity I designed for them and seemed to LOVE it, and were generally very respectful to me. Although I made several bad mistakes - for instance, I didn't talk loud enough, stood in front of the board, and severely underestimated the time it took to get a kid from each of 6 groups to come up and write the entire contents of 3 cards about the properties of metals on the board - I had a great time, and I think the kids did too. :)

2. Had an awesome talk/interview with the career counsellor of the High School I Was Placed With.

3. A really great small bakery which I've been frequenting for the last twelve years or so, no kidding, is doing better despite the economic conditions. Now there are two more staff (in addition to the previous two) and they've diversified to sell fried chicken as well.

Speaking of fried chicken, KFC decided they didn't want me after all. Bummer. Well, all I can do is look for another part-time job.

optimism, education, life
