The Story of Little Norris
by Mr. L, my math teacher.

When Mr. L was growing up, Little Norris lived across the street and four houses down. Little Norris was one of those children who was born without arms or legs, and he had a really short torso so it looked like he was just a head. Little Norris was a bit of a local celebrity, what with stories in the newspaper about him every so often, because of his handicap. He was pushed around in a wheelbarrow until the PTA/PTC of his school had a fundraiser to buy him a wheelchair. All the kids would fight to get to push Little Norris around in his chair. The teacher would write all of the children's names on the board and check off the children who had already pushed him around. One day, a kid was running with Little Norris in the wheelchair and stopped suddenly then he rolled off the chair. So they installed a seatbelt in the chair and the teacher would ask the student in the morning, "Did you buckle Little Norris in?" But despite all this, Little Norris always said that he would one day grow up and be able to run and play baseball like the other kids. One day, Mr. L's mom opened the door and THERE WAS LITTLE NORRIS STANDING ON THE DOORSTEP! He had arms and legs and he was going from house to house telling everyone. Then, Little Norris ran across the street to his house and got hit by a truck.

The funeral was large, and everyone got up to say something. At the end, the minister said, "There is a moral to this funeral...Little Norris should have quit while he was ahead."
Everyone left the funeral wondering...ahead or a head?

THE END!
