And in other news...

I shall shortly be posting the next bit of my Japan journal, as I have the pics up on Photo bucket.
Today I did my first days training at Asda to start work there. Since Colonel K was forced out given early retirement by IBM, our income has dropped rather sharply, and this is the first job I could get. It has the massive advantages of being local (No commuting fares or parking charges)and part-time.
The very sad thing about this was the group interview that I went to just before jetting off to Japan. There were 12 of us and as is usual in these things, we were all asked to introduce ourselves to the rest of the group. 5 of those round the table had been made redundant from previous jobs, including a car dealership manager; a concrete mixer driver, a chartered engineer, a business management graduate, and a drama student. The jobs on offer were home shopping pickers, checkout operators and similar at barely above minimum wage.

So thank you Gordon Brown, for improving the lives of so many folk out here in the real world.(Sarcasm.) Not that I was going to vote for your lot anyway. New Labour=Old Tory. And about as much use.
