O.o Panics and runs ....

So I went for an eye exam, to make sure I have decent glasses for the Japan trip. (Three weeks tomorrow, but who's counting?)
The ophthalmologist, Mr Htin, took a long time over my left eye, which has been giving trouble, but I thought that I just needed a new prescription. Then he uttered the words that no-one wants to hear..."I'll be writing to your GP."
I have had problems with Retinitis Pigmentosa and with the vitreous humour at the back of the eye, but I see the eye specialist once a year and basically it's not so bad that they need to operate.
Mr Htin then goes on to say that the stuff at the back of my eye is coming away from the retina (I know this, so ... fine,) and films of it are obscuring my vision on that side-so a new prescription will do nothing for that. Then he throws me into complete shock by telling me that there is evidence of haemorrhage in both eyes. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKK!
Obviously my stunned-bunny expression made him realise that this was shocking news. No I do not have diabetes, and as far as I am aware my blood pressure is fine. (When I got home I used Colonel K's little BP monitor which delivered a verdict of 115/75 which is definitely inside "normal" readings.) So now I have to wait to see the doctor. Fortunately my annual eye check is scheduled for 12th March so, I'll probably be seeing the specialist before they could make an appointment anyway.
Though this does explain the several times I have had to give up on doing fan art as I simply couldn't see the monitor clearly enough to work with PhotoShop.I thought I was just tired-I usually work late at night when there is some peace to be had.
So positive thoughts, prayers, crossed fingers and any other varieties of karmic intervention would be greatly appreciated while I find out what the hell is going on with my eyes.
