Rin-always addressed as 'Tohsaka' by Shirou.
Saber-Just Saber, no honorific.

Not sure how long he's known Issei...since the beginning of at least high school

As for that CG...no idea. Probably Rin's revenge for Issei attempting to score with her man. XD

...I think he still calls her Tohsaka after they've had sex (or a threesome, anyway), which is hilarious.

How far are they in high school, anyway? I know nothing of Japan's public education system.

Probably~

I find it more sad than anything else, but that is my utter loathing of the Pairing That Dare Not Speak Its Name talking.

High school (and middle school) in Japan is done in three year chunks. So high school is like 10th-12th grade, and Shirou and Rin are second years, while Sakura is a first year.

Definitely. Otherwise she would have used blue instead of pink.

Oh, believe me, I loathe it too. I just laugh at it to ease the pain of 'this got a route over Archer/Rin!?'

Thanks!

I think blue brings out his eyes.

Issei refers to Shirou by his last name ... and he says he considers Kuzuki to be like a brother to him.

It's been a while, so I don't remember canon well, but how do their ages compare? If they're not related by blood or extremely close, Issei might use the surname/honorific as a matter of respect -- which, hey, he might do anyway come to think of it. If it's Issei's habit to be formal or proper, that might also be enough of an explanation. I don't think that's the way it works in actual interpersonal communication, but in anime/games honorific and long-form verb usage seems to be used to characterize that way, just as shortened forms are used to imply arrogance or superiority, etc.

I'm not an expert, so.

You're right on that. Not blood related, Kuzuki is an adult and a teacher, so it's Kuzuki-sensei.

Man, I wish I knew more about Hollow Ataraxia. I think he has a marginally upgraded role... or at least talks to more than three people...

Agreeing with myaru -- referring to only last names doesn't always mean lack of closeness, sometimes it just means the character is more respectful than casual. I haven't dug into the anime yet (Though JD sent it to me, I think. He sent me something at least.)

That would apply to his teachers, I suppose, but not his classmates. Hmm.

Actually, no -- it's not set in stone that a character will automatically refer to his friends via first-name no honorific. No matter how much they like them, some characters are just more polite *shrugs*

Hell, some wives still use the -'san' honorific. It's really more a matter of personality~
