This evening, going over to my Uncle & Aunt's to help them out with the little ones. The older ones all have plans or events to attend and a baby-sitter is needed. *smiles* I do enjoy spending time with my cousins.
Still a-waitin' a response from
rengeek as to whether he will put Spiggan's music on his
RenRadio…maybe if a few Spriggan fans on LJ post requests on
rengeek's journal (located on the
RenRadio homepage)…hmmn…
Only two of my calenders have something for today, but what stuff:
Johnny "Guitar" Watson (B) 1935 Houston, TX, influential blues guitarist. Still jammin' somewhere…
Melanie Safka (B) 1947.
Dave Davies (B) 1947, guitarist & singer for The Kinks, brother to Ray. Solo hit Death of a Clown.
Buddy Holly, one of the biggest early influences in rock and roll (The Beatles and The Rolling Stones attribute coming into their musical consciousness when hearing Holly's music), was killed in a plane crash with J. P. "Big Bopper" Richardson (Chantilly Lace), Ritchie Valens (La Bamba and Oh, Donna) and pilot Roger Peterson near Clear Lake, Iowa. Waylon Jennings, who had become one of The Crickets not long before, gave up his seat by coin toss to Ritchie Valens who was afraid to fly but, being sick, thought he could get some rest by arriving early to the next gig. Buddy was laid to rest in Lubbock, Texas. Buddy Holly's wife in New York was pregnant at the time but the stress caused her to miscarry. Many years later, she is remarried and living quietly in Irving, Texas.
1889-Belle Starr was ambushed while riding home, near Eufaula, OK, and was shot in the back. She was found alive but died after hanging on for three days. She never regained consciousness to name her attackers.
1998-Karla Fay Tucker executed in TX. First woman since the Civil War. She and her boyfriend pick-axed two people to death near Houston. He was executed two years earlier.
