Maple Syrup

I went maple syruping this weekend. It went better than expected and is now finishing up the cooking process on my kitchen stove. It is also going very, very slowly through a coffee filter to get rid of the nasty bits. Well, the sieve would have gotten rid of the really nasty bits, but this way there won't be any sediment either. It is quite tasty, and hey, basically free maple syrup is always a bonus. Basically free since there was the cost of the fuel to get up to the Farm and back. I don't really value my time but even if I did and I went off what I get paid at work is would still be basically free.

Work is picking up the pace and I don't like it. I'm convinced my boss works me harder than just about any of the other site sups work their AmeriCorps. Eric keeps Anna for pretty long hours too. Of course, Eric and Rhonda are the two site sups at my site this summer. It is going to be a long, fun and tiring summer.

Since I'm switching off of Tues-Sat, I have to go back to being productive on the weekends. This includes making my Sundays less lazy. I'm not sure I like this proposition. But in an attempt to have a good and calm week (yeah, right), here are the goals for the day: furniture shopping, pack up clothes and other random moving stuff, finish maple syrup, taxes, sand and patch room, laundry. Luckily, most of these things are not mutually exclusive and I can multi-task a lot of them.

In short, Hurray farm and syrup. Life is good and getting very busy, even by my standards.

work, syrup, life, farm
