Justin's wedding was July 26th, a Monday. Mom came up to see me that weekend, and I love her so much for that! We had an absolutely fantastic time, complete with swimming in the pool, Bertolli pasta dinners, Glee, and a shared bottle of wine, drinks and food with Wes(the friend letting Lida live at his house), and visiting and giving her advice on Lida(my cat). I love my mom.
Archie's
The Friday of that weekend, I was feeling pretty down because no one was around. So, I drove to the mall to Bath & Body Works to smell their spa island line. I love the Be More Pacific body wash and Tahiti Sweetie body lotion, but can't afford them yet. So, I go to Bath and Body to smell them when I need to refresh my soul. When leaving the mall Emily texted and asked if I'd like to go to Archie's, a bar I'd never been to in Sabraton. Well... there was a biker rally in Morgantown that weekend. Cars were not even allowed to park in the parking lot, we had to park on the grass. The pavement was filled with hundreds (hundreds!) of motorcycles, which Emily and I proceeded to window shop enjoyably :). There were tents to buy tshirts and stickers, and an outdoor concert stand with a rock band. The band was awesome, so Emily and I got Jack Daniel's lynchburg lemonades, which they now sell in cans (who knew?) and stood out in the lot with all hte bikers and sang along to every rock song we knew. Then, we look over. Next to us, theres a jenga set in the parking lot. Now, most jenga sets are composed of little 1-2 inch blocks that you play with on a table top with your grandparents. These blocks were a foot long apeice, said Jack Daniel's on the side, and made a jenga tower 3 feet tall. I, of course, made friends, and proceeded to play giant jenga with leather, bandana, chap-wearing bikers. Awesome :).
After singing for a bit, Emily and I walked around and looked at all the helmets, which were covered in stickers like "A hard man is good to find." We had so much fun! Stickers at the tent were buy 5 get one free, and Emily had a field day. She found many many many stickers she liked, and is excited to buy them for her motorcycle helmet. We also found a few stickers that fit my situation rather well, and we laughed and laughed. She found ten stickers, and so got two for me as the free ones. One of them Emily said I should send to Justin's jailbait fiance in a nice, tasteful wedding card. It said "I taught your boyfriend that thing you like." The other sticker says "never trust a preacher with a boner." I of course didn't send the first or use the second, they're on my dining room table now.
My roommate Stacy asked all of us to come down to 123 Pleasant Street (an indie band bar/hangout, more of a band venue than bar) where they all were. We called Emily's boyfriend Tim to join us, and Wes. Wes was at Frosted Mug, a little bar in Sabraton I hand't heard of. Emily and Tim left so Emily could get changed into shorts because she was hot in pants, and I drove to Frosted Mug to pick up Wes.
Frosted Mug
No one knew what or where Frosted Mug was. When I finally got there, I knew why! It is behind an old abandoned strip mall, and the only sign for it is on one of those white boards with the black changeable letters out by the road, that says "FROSTED MUG." After being there a few minutes, I called Emily to come and join us instead of going to 123, because it was awesome! When Emily got there she said "I always saw that sign and thought it was a place that had a frosted mug happy hour or something!" Its completely a hole in the wall, and full of locals. I loved it.
It was quite eventful. Apparently, one of the accomplishments I now hold is 'driving a girl to jealous drinking.' When I got there I said hi to Wes and met all of his friends, who I quite liked. One of the girls was a beautiful long-haired brunette, almost model-looking. After she got up and walked to the bar, Wes leaned over and said "thats Katelyn Coulby." Woah! Katie is the girl that Wes used to like, and she had said timing wasn't right and she didn't want to start anything, and then he decided he was over it. About 8 months ago Wes quit hanging around her much because she would still flirt and it annoyed him. So, shes there and Wes tells me who she is, then says "shes pretty pissed." Really? How do you know? Wes says, "well, she doesn't usually drink, and that's her second amaretto sour since you walked in here." I'd been there ten minutes.
You know girls, can't beat em join em, so Katie danced and sang with me and her friend Kristen gave me a hug when she left. Oh well. I friended them both on FB but we'll see if they respond. I actually liked them both.
I led the entire bar in the cupid shuffle! It came on, we started dancing, and I was dancing paces ahead of the others, all the dancers were following me, and those not dancing were watching me :). Wes and I played pool against 2 of the guys, there was a disco ball in the ceiling, and it was karaoke night. I had to keep reminding myself that they were real people singing, because the locals were so good. I made friends with many of the locals that night, starting with a woman and then her husband at the end of the bar. By the end of the night it was just me, Wes, Emily, Tim, and about 8 locals and the bartender left. We fed the jukebox and sang along into the wee hours to Billy Joel and the best of poison - "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Talk Dirty to Me." While trying to think of a song, I talked with my woman friend, broke into an impromptu session of "Big Shot" with the husband, shouted across the bar to George. By the end of the night I knew every person in there, and we closed down the bar at 3 am.
INTERLUDE FOR MY NEW FRIENDLY DUDE!
I now have a cat named Lida Rose Neil. She has been called the black hole of naps because shes so cuddly, she kneads the side of my head, likes Pounce, and is best friends with a beagle/australian shepherd puppy named Bosch.
Last Sunday:
Wes and I met Stacy and our friend Shane at Ledo's Pizza for lunch and had a wonderful time. Leaving there, we decided to go to Blue Hole for the day. We stopped first at Krogers and picked up the most awesome snacks there could be. We got individual bottles of white wine in a four pack, a sprite melon, a plum, sea salt and malt vinegar kettle chips, water bottles, and asian pears with a honey bear. MMMMMm. We poured the honey bear on our asian pear slices while lying on a sunbaked rock in the middle of the river. Oh, this rock! We found a huge rock in the middle of the water, and waded out there. Wes lifted our bags straight over his head like they were nothing (of course he would), we laid our towels out on this huge rock, and spent the entire day there.
Brew Pub
Sunday is trivia night at the Brew Pub, so from Blue Hole we went home and changed. Wes picked me back up, and we met Stacy and Kyle (the guy shes interested in) and Emily and Brandon (a married couple) at the Brew Pub for trivia. We werent all that great, but it was a lot of fun. I liked Brandon when I first met him, hes pretty sexy. Foot in mouth when I found out about the misses! :) Trivia is done ever Sunday. You make up a team and htey ask questions in a mike. You have one song to answer, then they give the answer, a new question, and give you one song to answer. The questions are very hard... we want to go back often and try to get good enough that we don't mind hearing our scores over the mike.
Boston Beanery
Wes and I wanted to go to Dragonfly, but it was closed. We were sad. We decided we wanted drinks and food, but more martinis and sushi than wings and beer. We compromised by going to the Boston Beanery for mixed drinks and calamari. I had a naughty irish schoolgirl (mm,mm) and Wes had an irish coffee. He said he was surprised by my drink choice in that it contained Jameson, and we started talking about that. One thing led to another, Wes bought me a shot (it was really a double shot) of whiskey, which I downed like a champ. We had a good night!
Crocketts
I have a label here for Crocketts but I don't remember it so... nevermind.
I did take Stacy to Crocketts a few weeks ago for her birthday. We chatted and laughed all night, catching up and getting to know each other even more. We also got hit on by about 8 different guys, and Stacy cracked up as I mercilessly got rid of all of them. One at the end of the bar sent a pitcher of margaritas to our table, and we took them out to a table of girls outside (we'd already had a pitcher, I'm driving and Stacy is a lightweight) which made me Miss Awesome to them. ;)
There are many intrigues at the mall with Chich Fil A.... its funny the underground world you get introduced to at a job. Dean lives across the way at GNC, and he is beautiful. Stacy and I chat about his loveliness every time he comes up to Chick Fil A, but he always gets in Stacy's line. Jeremy is from the movie theater, and he is incredibly persistent. He hit on me several times ('you make the best milkshakes blah blah blah, if you ever want a free movie haha, blah blah blah, or if you'd like to GO to a movie...'). Very smooth. He's 26 and doesn't like taking no for an answer. There's also Aaron at AT&T. Oh, Aaron ;). He's sexy, and we flirt slightly whenever he comes up to CFA. He always gets in my line.
The Library
A couple of days ago - on a Wednesday - Wes and I decided to go up to Pittsburgh. We were headed to the Cheesecake Factory but got very, very lost. Emily and Tim were supposed to come with us, but bailed out. Around 12:15, we finally decided to stop at a bar and were waiting waiting hoping for some FOOD. We stopped at a place called the Library, with the slogan "Once upon a beer...." Our bartender Chris was excellent. The Library had microbrew upon unknown microbrew, and I didn't know what to get. I told him my favorite beer was Yuengling, Wes told him his favorite beer was Bass, and Chris picked out rarer beers that would tailor to each of us.
This bar was made for me. The menus were inside books, so you had to open it up and turn the pages to read the menu. Ours was a book about animals.
All of the food was named after literary references. Oh, stop my heart! I told Wes he'd have to choose what we ate because I wouldn't be able to resist choosing by name over ingredients. We ended up with the most delicious sandwich of flaked fillet steak, spanish onions, roasted peppers, and an incredible sauce.
My first beer was called a Devil Dancer, and was served in a warning glass to see how much was left and how fast it was depleting. It was 14.4% alcohol! All the beers were delicious. We were both feeling it, so we ended up sleeping in the car for a few hours before driving back to Morgantown at 5:30 in the morning. It was so so hot in the car, and very close quarters.
Kristen called me on the phone when we were on our way to Pitt to ask if I'd seen the wedding pictures online. Thanks, Kristen. There was a picture of the ring so she wanted to know if it really was mine (and yes, no surprise, of course it is). I also heard from Danielle, who went to the wedding and stayed at Chelsea's house the night before the wedding. She said Chelsea had a box of her ex-fiance's stuff in her closet and her sister was going through it and laughing about things in it. Wedding dress to be steamed, last night of being single to spend with a girl you don't know as your righthand man(Danielle), and she is reminiscing and holding onto all her exfiance's stuff (which, by the way, is an exfiance from just February). Oh also, she wore the dress she bought for her exfiance to the wedding. A few days ago Justin's status said "I wouldn't have missed it for the world", which was weird but I thought oh, it could be about anything. Then it changed to "why do I always figure things out after its already too late?" From what I hear they're not that happy.
Ever seen 28 weeks later? I feel like the woman in that who is a carrier for the virus - in a moment of crisis she sees who her man really is as a worthless coward, can barely look at him, but still loves him, and you can see that her loving him has a chance to save him, but before it can save him hes infected, hes gone forever, and he pushes her eyes out with his thumbs.
I'm getting my entire room switched around today, moving into the downstairs room. However, I really need a dresser and a bed larger than a twin. I have classes T and Th, CFA W, F, S. Meeting with Amy and 3 hours of Brit Lit on Mondays, with hopefully writing center tutoring mixed in.
Beach trip was incredible!!! Stick around to hear about family, Wes, mini golf, Fishtales, fractured prune, Thrashers and Fisher's, the Pattas, and Lightning Walters the watermelon bus; followed by Forensic Psyc, the cool things about Brit Lit, and Monsters and Mothers classes.
I am poor beyond belief and I messed up another check because I'm an idiot and didn't cash my paycheck in time. This weekend - Cage the Elephant opening for Stone Temple Pilots concert, party in MD for Stacy, or none of the above due to funds?
