Sungmin woke up just to be welcomed by a killing headache. He groaned as he tried to get up from the bed as slowly as possible. He looked around himself. He was on his own room, on his own bed, and the sun was shining.
Suddenly the door was opened, and Sungmin’s big brother Donghae stepped in. He was fully clothed and had his bag with him.
“Oh, so you’re up?” Donghae asked. Sungmin just stared at him, afraid that moving his head would be unbearably painful. “I’m going to school. You do whatever you want.”
“D-donghae..?” Sungmin asked weakly. A worried look rose to Donghae’s face. Sungmin had never said his name without spitting at it.
“Yes, Sungmin?” Donghae asked. Sungmin fidgeted nervously.
“I.. I think I screwed everything”, Sungmin admitted. Why he was telling this to Donghae? Maybe he was still slightly drunk.
Donghae sighed. He put his bag to the floor and walked to Sungmin. He motioned Sungmin to sat down to the bed, and then sat beside him.
“What did you do?” Donghae asked softly. Sungmin sighed deeply.
“I don’t remember much from last night, but... but I told Hyukjae I love Kyuhyun! Even if he loves Kyuhyun too”, Sungmin told. Donghae could only stare at him.
“Horrible, isn’t it?” Sungmin said, and dried few tears that had rolled to his face. Donghae didn’t register his words. He could only stare in front of himself.
“D-Donghae?” Sungmin asked worriedly. Donghae still didn’t say a thing, but only got up from the bed. He headed towards the door. Sungmin followed him.
“Donghae! What’s wrong?!” he shouted to Donghae who was now walking down the stairs. “Donghae!!”
“Nothing is wrong, Sungmin!” Donghae finally snapped angrily. “Stop shouting! I’m going to school now. You do whatever you want.”
‘I don’t care anymore’, Donghae thought as he dashed outside from the front door. The sun hurt his eyes, and he wished that even for once it would rain. How could sun shine when his whole world was destroyed?
Sungmin watched Donghae’s disappearing back sighing. He leaned on the door frame, not minding his headache or the sun that burnt his eyes. Only when Donghae had disappeared from his sight, he stepped inside and shut the door behind him.
‘I screwed up again’, Sungmin realized. ‘But now I just don’t know exactly how I screwed up...’
Because he had no idea what of his words had hurt his brother, he decided just to forget them. A plan had formed in his mind. It wasn’t the best plan he had ever had, but it would do for now.
Sungmin grabbed his sunglasses from his bag that laid on the hallway. Then he started heading for the bar Heechul always was.
---------------------------------------
Donghae wasn’t in control of his feet as they lead him to Hyukjae’s house. He only stopped when he had reached the porch and was about to ring the bell.
‘What I am doing here?’ Donghae questioned himself. His heart was hurting, like someone was squashing it harshly. His breath was hitched on his throat. 'I will confess now, before he can confess to Kyuhyun.’
After deciding that, Donghae was even more scared. He didn’t want to hear Hyukjae rejecting him. It would break him. Hyukjae was the only thing in the world Donghae needed - if he destroyed their friendship now, he would have no reason to live.
Donghae glanced at the kitchen window next to the door. His mouth twisted into a hateful frown.
Hyukjae’s mother was drinking. She looked wasted already, even if the clock had barely reached 8. The sight was normal to Donghae, who had walked with Hyukjae to school often. Still it made Donghae hurt.
Hyukjae had to live with that pathetic, waisted woman. Donghae knew that Hyukjae’s mother had hurt him, but he hadn’t dared to ask more about it. He had been afraid to hurt or offend Hyukjae, and at worst, loose their friendship. Now Donghae wished he had asked about it. Maybe by that way he could have won Hyukjae to him.
Now it all was too late.
‘I can’t do it’, Donghae thought. He took steps backwards, and slowly turned around. Then he ran away from the house as fast as he possibly could.
------------------------------------------
“Siwon!” Donghae’s loud voice startled Siwon as he was enjoying his daily bread at the school hallway. His friends looked at the guy stomping closer to them, but Siwon didn’t lift his head.
“I want to talk to you in private”, Donghae exclaimed as he reached Siwon and his friends - or followers, if you asked Donghae.
Siwon shrugged. He ordered his friends to leave them alone, and without words they left them. Donghae watched after them a while, surprised at how obedient they were. Then he focused his attention in Siwon.
“So what it is?” Siwon asked.
“I need you to make me forget about Hyukjae”, Donghae blurted out. Siwon finally raised his head and just stared at Donghae.
“What?” he was finally able to utter out.
“You heard me. Make me forget Hyukjae”, Donghae repeated. His voice was almost miserable. Siwon immediately motioned Donghae to sat beside him when he saw how lost the boy looked.
“Why? I had the impression he was your best friend?” Siwon asked, as he rounded his arm around Donghae’s shoulders. Siwon was surprised that actually he was truly concerned of Donghae. And Siwon hadn’t been concerned about anyone - ever.
“He.. he was more than that...” Donghae muttered.
“Oh”, Siwon said. “You were dating?” Something hurted his heart as he feared that Donghae would confirm his fear.
“What? No”, Donghae answered and looked at Siwon bewildered. Siwon breathed out slowly.
“Good”, Siwon mumbled.
“What?”
“Nothing. So what exactly you want me to do about it?” Siwon changed the topic swiftly.
“Make me fall in love with you.”
“-----!!?” Siwon jumped up and stared at Donghae, opening and closing his mouth over and over again. It was understatement to say he was shocked - he was absolutely horrified. When he finally could produce a word, it came out a s a scream. “WHAT?!”
Donghae blushed. Truthfully, he was ashamed to ask something like that from Siwon, a guy he despised - kinda.
“Y-yeah”, Donghae said, avoiding looking at Siwon.
“Why me?” Siwon cried.
“Cosurehot”, Donghae blurted out. It took Siwon a while to realize what Donghae just said.
“Y-you think that I’m.. hot?” he asked silently. They had already made enough commotion at the hallway. Siwon sa side Donghae again.
Donghae could only nod as a answer to Siwon’s question. Blush was very visible on his face.
“B-but not in that way!” Donghae added quickly.
“In what way?” Siwon asked. He was half sure he was dreaming: there was no way this could actually happen.
“W-whatever.. Will you do it?” Donghae asked. He crossed his fingers behind his back, hoping for the best.
Siwon thought. He wasn’t sure what Donghae thought he’d accomplish if he fell in love with Siwon. But it wouldn’t hurt to try?
'I might even be able to use him to get my revenge on Kyuhyun.’
When Siwon realized that, he smiled.
“Okay, it’s a deal”, he said, and Donghae grinned and hugged him. Siwon hugged him back, tightly. He could feel Donghae’s heart beat fastening.
'This will be easy’, Siwon chuckled on his mind.
--------------------------------------
Kyuhyun never let go of Hyukjae’s soft and warm hand as he dragged the boy closer to their destination - a small, remote park that almost no one knew.
Hyukjae gasped when they arrived to the park. It was small, yes, but very beautiful, serene and peaceful. His lips formed a happy smile, and he turned to look at Kyuhyun.
“This place is amazing!” Hyukjae exclaimed, making Kyuhyun chuckle. He dragged Hyukjae gently to a bench. They sat to it, side by side. Still they didn’t part their hands. Holding hands made them both feel warm and content.
“How did you find this?” Hyukjae asked.
“I used to go here to study”, Kyuhyun told, looking around the park, reminiscing. A sad, bitter smile crept to his face.
“Used?” Hyukjae asked silently. He didn’t want to annoy Kyuhyun.
“Yeah,” Kyuhyun only said. Hyukjae felt some of the warmth inside him disappearing.
They sat in silence for a short time. Hyukjae looked at the ground, feeling terrible. He was sure that he had annoyed Kyuhyun.
“When my parents were.. alive..” Kyuhyun suddenly said, “I came here nearly every evening.”
Hyukjae looked at Kyuhyun, but stayed silent.
“You know what?” Kyuhyun asked. Hyukjae shook his head questioningly.
“It feels strangely comfortable to be with you.”
Hyukjae could feel his cheeks heating up. But he had to agree with Kyuhyun: it was comfortable. He had hardly known Kyuhyun some days ago, and now he was already holding his hand. Of course he was still scared that he might hurt or annoy Kyuhyun. And one part of him was sceptical about Kyuhyun; he felt that Kyuhyun couldn’t love him. But Hyukjae tried to push those thoughts away.
“Y-yeah”, he said, and smiled. Kyuhyun looked at him, and asnwered his smile.
“Can I ask you something?” Kyuhyun asked.
“Sure”, Hyukjae said.
“What were you doing at the city at that hour? Weren’t you at school?”
“Oh.. I wanted to skip the school.. because I wasn’t feeling well”, Hyukjae mumbled, suddenly looking everywhere but Kyuhyun. “But my mom told me to go...”
Kyuhyun saw anger on Hyukjae’s brown eyes.
“You don’t have good realtions to your parents?” Kyuhyun asked, holding Hyukjae’s hand tighter.
“Not really..” Hyukjae mumbled.
“Look, Hyukjae”, Kyuhyun said, and used his free hand to grab Hyukjae’s chin and gently turn other’s head towards him. “You know that you can tell me everything, right?”
“K-kyuhyun...” Hyukjae mumbled. He had never talked about his parents to anyone, but now he felt like he had to let it out. “M-my dad used to always blame me for everything. He always said how it was my fault that the car had broken or we had no milk for breakfast. He said I was ugly, and he.. he also hit me. I trusted him, I thought that he was right. I started to see myself as an ugly guy. But I wanted to make my dad happy and proud of me, so I started to help everyone, and I tried to be a perfect child. But he still loathed me...”
Hyukjae’s voice crack, and Kyuhyun was filled with worry. He pulled Hyukjae closer to himself, and the older boy rested his head against Kyuhyun’s shoulder blades.
Hyukjae took a deep breath and continued his story.
“He hated my mom as much as he hated me. My mom used to be nice to me, trying to tell me that dad was lying. She tried to convince me that I was beautiful and amazing, but she couldn’t do it properly. Her words were too weak. My dad hit her too. He hurt us both.”
“So when he left us, one year ago, I thought that everything would work well. I thought that me and mom could start everything over, and have a happy, safe lives. But my mom broke when they divorced. She started drinking. She started hitting me, yelling at me. And she told me that.. that.. that I could never be loved...”
Hyukjae’s last words came out as a sob, and he pressed himself closer to Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun didn’t care about his shirt getting wet, and rounded his arms around Hyukjae’s slim body.
“She really loved my daddy, Kyuhyun...” Hyukjae cried. He lifted his tear soaked face up, looking directly at Kyuhyun. “And you know what the most horrible thing is?”
“Hyukjae.. It’s okay, please don’t cry”, Kyuhyun hushed Hyukjae.
“No, it’s not okay. I didn’t love my dad, I hated him!” Hyukjae almost screamed out. “I’m horrible...”
“Shh.. Hyukjae, honey... You have all the rights to hate him. He treated you like a crap”, Kyuhyun said strongly, wanting Hyukjae to believe all of his words. Hyukjae blinked his teary eyes, and then shook his head.
“You’re beautiful. You’re handsome. You’re gorgeous. You’re better person than everyone else. You’re thousands times better than me. I will tell you this every day so that you will learn to love yourself”, Kyuhyun said softly. He was surprised he could say things like that: cheesy and.. friendly. Caring. He wasn’t that kind of person at all.
Kyuhyun still didn’t care about anything but Hyukjae. He hated everyone but Hyukjae. He wanted to steal, and smoke, and skip school, curse at the teachers. But still, he felt that Hyukjae had changed him already, in only a few days.
“Hyukjae... Because of you, I have started to believe in love again”, Kyuhyun confessed. His cheeks heated.
Hyukjae blushed too, but he couldn’t help but giggle at the sight of blushing Kyuhyun. He didn’t know much about Kyuhyun -which he wanted to change immediately- but somehow he got the impression that Kyuhyun wasn’t the one to blush.
“Thank you, Kyuhyun. You’re making me feel fuzzy inside~” Hyukjae chuckled, and circled his arms around Kyuhyun. They hold each other in silence.
Hyukjae broke the silence after a while: “So what are we now?”
“Huh?”
“I-I mean.. like.. are we.. like.. you know... dating?” Hyukjae stammered and hid his madly blushing face against Kyuhyun’s broad chest.
Kyuhyun laughed out loudly.
“Yes, Hyukjae, we are dating.”
-------------------------------------------
Sungmin pushed the cafe door open harshly. It banged to the wall causing everyone on the dimly lit cafe to stare at him. Sungmin didn’t mind their gazes and stomped to the couches on the back of the cafe. He instantly spotted the person he was looking for sleeping on the couch. After all, Heechul almost never left the building.
“Heechul-ah! Wake up!” Sungmin shouted. Heechul startled up and stared at Sungmin with wide eyes.
“The fuck, Sungmin?!” Heechul screamed at him. Sungmin never minded the angry man. He sat next to him.
“I have a favour to ask from you”, Sungmin cut straight to the point. Heechul lifted his brow.
“A favour? What makes you think you are in the position to ask anything from me, the Space Big Star Kim Heechul?!” Heechul spat out, angry that he had been woken up from his beauty sleep.
“If you help me in this one, I’ll let you have sex with me once”, Sungmin told.
“What?! Who thinks that I want to have fuck you?” Heechul asked. Well, he did want to fuck Sungmin... But that’s not a thing you tell to others.
“Well, judging by your actions earlier this week.. Yes, you want to have sex with me.”
“Oh God, you’re becoming more and more obnoxious every day... And only once? Only a fool would agree on that kind of shitty deal”, Heechul growled.
“Yep. Only once. Then you have to pay me”, Sungmin said.
“...Okay. What you want me to do?” Heechul asked.
Sungmin was dumbfounded. He didn’t thought Heechul would have agreed so quickly. He was prepared to use all methods available to get Heechul help him. A evil grin rose to his face slowly. The easier, the better.
“You know that Kyuhyun was almost caught lately?” Sungmin asked and Heechul nodded. “Well, I want to have him caught for real.”
“You want what?!” Heechul asked, “Why would you want that? I thought you loved Kyuhyun?”
“Yeah, I do. But I think he has a thing for Hyukjae. So I thought, that if I save him from the prison, where he is sure to end up in, he will see me in a completely different light. He will forget everything about that slut Hyukjae, and only see me”, Sungmin told his great idea. Heechul could only stare at him.
“Ooo-kay...” the redhead mumbled. “You’re totally crazy.”
“Then I am. I don’t care. All I care is Kyuhyun. So we have a deal.”
Heechul sighed. He knew Sungmin’s plan would cause terrible happenings, but he really wanted to have sex with Sungmin. Heechul was sure he could change Sungmin’s mind if he could use all of his tricks on the boy. After a one night of heated sex with Kim Heechul, Lee Sungmin would have no feelings for Cho Kyuhyun.
“Okay sure”, Heechul finally said, earning a happy cheer from Sungmin. “But do you have a plan on how to get Kyuhyun caught?”
“Oh yes I do, indeed”, Sungmin said, his voice murderous.
Heechul gulped.
------------------------------------------
The following days were like heaven to both Kyuhyun and Hyukjae - and they didn’t forget to tell that to each other. They knew they both needed as much support from each other as possible.
Almost every hour Kyuhyun remembered to tell Hyukjae that he was beautiful and gorgeous, and amazing person. He liked to surprise the boy by bringing him hand made gifts every time they met. Though Hyukjae would have preferred Kyuhyun to do his math homework.
Hyukjae encouraged Kyuhyun to come to school, and spent all of his time with the boy. Kyuhyun reduced his smoking to half, earning Hyukjae’s words that he smelled a whole lot nicer. Sometimes boys skipped school together, and just went to the park to talk and laugh.
Kyuhyun still stole things, and he still wrote graffittis. He couldn’t bring himself to care about his school grades or future. Only Hyukjae was in his mind. And now he was scared that he would become overly possessive boyfriend, who would not let Hyukjae to see anyone else beside him.
Hyukjae still gave money to people, and he suffered from the thought that he was only a source of money to others. Donghae had stopped seeing him, so he felt like he had no one beside Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun was enough for him, more than enough. He could be content if he could just lay with Kyuhyun every day. But a silent, yet strong voice in the back of his mind told him that Kyuhyun didn’t love him, and it made Hyukjae scared and it prevented his self esteem to strengthen.
But there were difference. There was a change. They had now each other for strength. They could talk about their fears and feelings to each other. They were both slowly, and not even that steadily changing. But it was enough for them. They couldn’t ask for more.
------------------------------------------
“Hey chief officer! We just got an anonymous call about the local shopliftings and gang beatings!” a young female agent shouted.
“Really? Tell me, agent.”
“They said they know the lead suspect!”
“Who is it?”
“It’s a young boy, in high school.. wait a second...”
“What’s the matter, agent?” the chief officer asked. He glanced over the agent’s shoulder to the computer screen. There was a picture of a young boy, with dark hair and pale skin.
“I.. I think I have seen him.. on action! I think we are finally getting somewhere! I think we have a great lead now!” the agent exclaimed. Determination shone on his eyes.
“Who is it, agent!?”
“His name is.. Cho Kyuhyun.” ______________________________________________________________________________________________
