True Blood
oh hay guys! i haven't been in the mood to update in FOREVER! mostly because i'm busy running around and being social and doing things, but i do read lj everyday 8D
Right now i'm addicted to True Blood and I have recruited nikui! The show is about vampires~ in the south! The show follows human Sookie who has the ability to read minds and vampire Bill, they fall for each other of course and the show is about them trying to make this relationship work with a lot of fucked up shit happening around them and dealing with vampire hierarchy. There's a really a lot of great, great stuff going on this show, it takes place in a not so distant time when vampires become integrated into society and they and the public/politicians/religious leaders start to debate their rights. Its of course a big metaphor for gay rights and they even spoof some of that in one of their viral marketing sites.
Tbh I watched the original leaked pilot of this show and it was a hot mess! But it seems they reshot and definitely recast one of the more offensive roles on that show and now its a million times better. The role in question was that of Tara, the original actress that played her and the way she was written just was stereotypical angry black chick D: It was really off putting but the recast actress does a great job of showing the complexity of the character along with vulnerable moments and makes us understand why she lashes out and pushes people away sometimes.
I really enjoyed the first two episodes because the main character Sookie was a breath of fresh air compared to that idiot Bella D: She's very self sufficient, independent and smart and she saves the vampire love interest Bill! Throughout the season she experiences many changes and tough situations so the writing for her gets a bit muddled but she's still one of the more positive heroines I've seen in vampire lore since the dawn of Buffy. She's really cute and earnest in the first few episodes and I love how she makes fun of Bill for having such a lame name for a vampire! Hahaha this show is like CRACK!
I love Nordic Vampire Eric! I'm glad he gets a bigger role in season 2, and they cut his hair but w/e he's so sexy and badass hahaa. This scene takes place at Fangtasia a vampire bar lololol.
This is my fav scene in the entire season 1! "I texted you three times!" LOLOLOL forever and mildly homoerotic ahaha. I love how these vampires use technology, in another episode Bill has a Wii!! hahahaa
Anyway this show is awesome and sexy, its kinda porny in the first few episodes but I highly recommend it XD NEW SEASON STARTS THIS WEEKEND OMGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! You can rent the first season or watch it on surfthechannel.com
