The kitchen.

Pudge was sick (again/still) today, so I again took half a sick day. I'm going to be out of them before January is even over. I figured since I had the afternoon off, I might as well accomplish something. I rounded him up and jetted on over to the house again today, intent on tackling the kitchen.

Here's the before:
Sorry for the quality, cell phone plus sunlight.

Yeah. Those are two big boxes of canned goods and non-perishables she left. In a house. For a month. That had been so piled full of nice, gnawable papers and fabrics and all manner of vermin heaven that, yeah. Draw your own conclusion there. You'll be right.

And yes, those are bags and bags of garbage - some even inside the bin - that were just LEFT there. In the house. On a table that wasn't clean, on a floor that wasn't clean, in a room that wasn't clean.

The freezer. Full. And broken, obviously.

The fridge. I do not even want to discuss this at this point.

Even setting aside the AWFULNESS a person must have within to DO that, think of the money. I mean, those boxes were FULL. The fridge was FULL. The freezer was FULL. I've been grocery shopping on my own for quite some time now. I know how much money it takes to fill boxes that size.

Oh, and here's how she left the sink.

At the time the photo was taken, that... stuff - greasy nasty, old formerly water, I guess - in there, that was frozen. And it's in a tub, not the sink, because, yeah, the sink leaks. Which she didn't bother to tell anyone about. Or, you know, fix.

So, that's what I had to face today. I had gotten rid of the obvious stuff - the boxes and bags and I'd cleaned out the fridge and freezer previously. Cleaned out, as in emptied, but not cleaned up, as in bleach and a gas mask. And yesterday I emptied the cabinets and drawers. Today I took my awesome big tote-o-clean and due South on DVD, and settled Pudge in with stuff to entertain him - he'd gotten tot he point where he wasn't well, but he was antsy, and got to work. I spent three hours over there and came away with this:

home sweet what now
