Sheesh, you'd think I was applying for a mortgage.

Did anyone know that to get a library card, one has to provide proof of address? And not a driver's license, an actual utility bill/bank statement/equivilant document? 'Cause you do. I haven't had a card for a few years now (I had the college library, after all) discovered last week that there's a big, beautiful library literally a block away from where I get my coffee every day on break. Unfortunately, I don't live in the city I work in, and the nice librarians at work!library informed me that I would need a card from my home city before getting one there.

Since today is the only day my local library is open past six, if I didn't get it today, I'd have to wait a week and spend more time being mocked by the universe. Accordingly, I stopped there after work, only to be told that they needed proof that I was not in fact from Mars. I ran home, got grabbed the proof, then ran to church (All Saint's Day, and BTW, just once it would be nice if there was more than three drops of wine when I go up to receive. I always feel like a lush when I have to tip the chalice all the way back), then ran back to the library with fifteen minutes to spare.

And after all that, the whole process took maybe thirty seconds.:) But step one is accomplished!

Now if everyone would excuse me, TCM is showing the old, gorgeous, French Beauty & the Beast, subtitled and all.
