So I stopped off at the grocery store on the way home from work today (because my cat enjoys eating. Crazy thing) and all went well until I got to checkout. Swiped my card, put in my pin --- card denied. Paid with my credit card and quietly panicked all the way home ( Read more... )

That sucks. Did you make any major purchases lately? Sometimes they'll put a freeze on an account if there are large, unusual charges for fear the card's been stolen. Once I enrolled for some community college courses and they froze my account until I called them and told them it was really me. Anyway, I hope it's not too difficult to get it straightened out.

Nope, no big purchases. I can't even think of any out of the ordinary places I've used it lately. It's a bizarre and extremely annoying mystery.

I once had my bank card mysteriouslky cancelled in the middle of the rural English countryside, when I was staying at a very expensive B&B that charmingly did not take cash or credit cards. Thank god for Western Union!

Oh, that makes much more sense. I was picturing a cute little English lady just turning away your cash with a smile on her face.
