Indeed I can sir. Where am I? What is this place? Why must I go inside? I apologize for my rudeness, but from my understanding the situation is desperate.

[ A soft, audible sigh, but he continues patiently ]
I apologize for the shock this may bring you, but the place you are in, while under normal circumstances would be more than safe, is at the moment an open ground for crazed hunters. ( Something tells me telling her zombies are here won't have much effect... )
There are, however, many safe places nearby. If you would like the entire story, then I suggest you head north from the way you're heading and turn to the right. There is a Café by the name of Turnabout-- it's not closed, but it'll provide a temporary sanctuary for you.
I can explain much clearly there. We're all making sure no newcomer is caught in this mess.
I am Miles Edgeworth, the proprietor of the establishment. I can meet you halfway, should that be better.
voice; you are awesome :DobjectedlyDecember 16 2008, 03:43:56 UTC
Madam, I shall feel much better when you are thanking me from safer quarters. Please keep this communicator on you, I shall be able to guide you from it.
[ He's so ready to just come out there and help her get where she has to be. Though once he finds out WHO she is, well... xD Expect a little fanboying. OMG HE READ AUSTEN AHAHAHA ]

That's right. You should be able to spot me, I'm in the direction you'll be heading, right near the café.
[ And he looks up, stepping away from the door. Safety first, questions and explanations later. A young woman like the one he just saw, a newcomer of all of them-- wouldn't last a moment among these demons. ]

[The cafe was far closer than she had expected; within a few minutes it came in her sight. She thanked God that she had not encountered any of those "zombies" on her journey; they sounded absolutely dreadful.

[ He quickly moved to answer the door, knowing it wouldn't be anyone but the newcomer. He hadn't even bothered to get her name yet, but that could wait. There were people hiding about at the booths, some were asleep, some were reading books and the waiters on duty were attending to those who were there for now.
It was a sorry state of business, but he maintained his composure. ]
Please come in.
[ Closing the door, he motioned her inside, the café was pleasantly spacious and had three levels with the demand of the customers, but he wasn't thinking of that now. Motioning her to an empty booth, he nodded his head in greeting. ]
This area is mostly safe. We'll have to find you a place to stay in the apartments when the coast is clear. One of my employees is looking into it right now so these people can return home too.
[ Sighing, he shakes his head, settling a grave look on her. ]

[Emma took in her surroundings as she entered and listened to Mr. Edgeworth's words. She felt numb, in a state of total shock. One moment she had been celebrating at her friend's wedding, and the next she was hurrying towards shelter from some unknown horror, assisted by complete strangers. It felt unreal.
But the distress and fear in the room certainly felt real, almost palpable, and Emma's heart went out to the poor, afflicted creatures. She turned back to Mr. Edgeworth with a small, wistful smile.]
I was blessed indeed to have so quickly made such a friend as you, Mr. Edgeworth. Thank you.

[ He imagined this would be a bit of an extreme shock to have to register for anyone, but even more for a woman he assumed, wasn't from the 20th century at all.
His gaze softened when she smiled though, wondering if any of this was making sense at all. Though he did smile wryly when she called him a friend. ]
Please don't mention it, Madam. It's my duty as someone caught here as well. Where were you, prior to your arrival?

[ Emma...Woodhouse. He pauses as he registers all the names together-- first Sherlock Holmes, and now--
Good grief on him, he was talking to yet another figure from literature, wasn't he? His eyes widen in surprise, mild fascination in his expression-- but he catches himself immediately as he nods to the young waiter attending to those seeking sanctuary here, and settles back in his seat. ]
A pleasure, Miss Woodhouse. [ Best to not shock her too much just yet. ] You have a communicator on you, do you not? Please keep it safely, as it will provide you with all the information you need here. The world around you is a strange one, and it would be for your own good that you listen to everything I tell you very carefully.
I apologize ahead of time, but you must prepare yourself for the chance of not being able to return to your own home very soon.

[Emma notices the peculiar expression that crosses his face at learning her name, almost as if he recognized it. But how can he? There is no place like this anywhere near Hertfordshire -- or anywhere else in England that she has heard of, and she fancies she knows a great deal of her country, through she has never really been outside of her little town. Most peculiar --
But she shall let the matter be, for now. Her first concern is learning more about this strange world she finds herself in. She nods along with everything Mr. Edgeworth says, taking it all in...until he says she can't go home soon.]
But what of my father? He will worry so, and he is not well. He can ill afford to be worried. I must return to him!
Madam, can you hear my voice?
( Damn it... )

I was at my friend Miss Taylor's wedding. Mrs. Weston, now. I stepped out for some fresh air and found myself here.
