Raptor rehabbing is not for the squeamish. Hawks and owls are dangerous and often extremely temperamental. Even though we've had years of dealing with them, we still experience injuries (spouse was badly footed just this past fall.) Those of us who handle them have to accept their down sides. One of those down sides is food.

Me, too! Last night, when the one girl sat there and begged and begged, I had to get up and leave the room, it made me so uncomfortable. It's hard to see how that's entertainment. We don't usually watch the auditions because they're just so painful. I feel for those people so acutely.

I knew there was some reason I intensely dislike American Idol.

At least when the predators are on their prey it's not for the entertainment value, or because egos are running amok.

Exactly! We don't generally tune in until the judges have whittled the contestants down to the final 12. This year, we got a little tired of Olympic coverage and switched over. By the end of the show last night, I was sick to my stomach. Back to the Olympics we went. Sure, there's drama there, too, but the announcers don't seem to revel in it quite as much.
