Things I learned in Ottawa:

I learned some fun things last week...

  • Sometimes the best thing to do in life is throw all caution to the wind and go on an unplanned, no-drama adventure!  I have to admit, I don’t usually just run off to another country to visit a friend on a whim, but it was very worth it.
  • Canadian beer is more alcoholic, more expensive, and should not be combined ( Read more... )

Or Sagas, as Dave and Taneka and I have all gotten to calling them. If/When you two ever meet, you should have him tell you all about the trip to Turkmenistan he just took.

# They do say “eh?” a lot, but probably no more than I say “huh?” “what?” or “wicked.”

When I was still living in Ann Arbor, my very first professional job was with an EMR company, and we had employees who came in from Windsor. I remember teasing (nicely) one of the guys about that, and he said "I've got no idea what your talking aboot. We don't talk like that for real, eh?" And I said "See! See you just did right now." He paused, nodding and shrugged, and said "Alright. Maybe."

But yes, you're right. We probably sound even weirder to the good folks of Canada. :)

The Missus and I had a very nice time in Montreal last year...I'd really really really really would love to check out Vancouver some time (or Vansterdam, as some people have described it to me.

Glad to hear you had such a good time!

"Vansterdam" that's too funny. I highly recommend the trip though and if you hit Vancouver, I cannot recommend enough the drive out to Whistler and Black Comb. The zip line stuff was way fun.

Adventures, sagas, they're all good in my book. I honestly don't travel nearly as much as I once did. I miss meeting new people and going on some unplanned merriment :)

The zip line stuff was sooo much fun. You go wicked fast through a valley up by Whistle mountain. And you get to hang out in a beautiful temperate rain forest :)

While driving to the spot, they took us past some of the stuff they are building in preparation for the Winter games.
