After the rainforest I headed south for 8 hours towards the mountains again, to a city known as the Rome of Ecuador (Guaranda) because it is built on 7 hills. Guaranda was a bustling small city and it was so refreshing to be somewhere where literally people were going about their daily business and were not so tourism focused.
