As Sungmin and Kyuhyun entered the classroom, still holding hands, Kyuhyun caught a glimpse of Ryeowook.
He had gotten handsom over the years. Kyuhyun remembered how bland Ryeowook used to look. Now, he even looked good in a uniform.
His hair was half straight, half curly and dark brown. Almost a chesnut colour. On his pants, he wore a navy blue and white checkered belt with silver lining the squares of the deign. From the belt, a chain hung, He had one ear pierced, and was wearing a diamond stud.
He wasn’t the same scrawny small boy anymore, either. Now he was lean and had a manly appeal.
But, under all those superficial changes, Kyuhyun still recognized the same old dorky and fun Ryeowook he once crushed on. He didn’t anymore though. Of course not. Did he?
Why was it then, if he wasn’t crushing on him, that when their eyes met, Kyuhyun’s heart jumped and started beating at the speed of a jackammer? Why was it that he was hoping Ryeowook was as impressed with him as he was wiht the latter?
Sungmin noticed Kyuhyun gazing at Ryeowook and abruptly felt uneasy. But, Kyuhyun said he was over Ryeowook, so why did that little voice in the back of his head keep screaming warnings about Ryeowook? He ignored the voice, but didn’t totally silence it, and continued leading Kyuhyun by the hand to their seats.
Quickly, they sat down, but not before Sungmin noticed Ryeowook’s eyes flickering down to their still joined hands and a slight grimace appear on Ryeowook’s face.
Sungmin took it that Ryeowook didn’t feel the same way Kyuhyun did now. Sungmin decided that he would ave to be careful and make sure that Ryeowook didn’t break Kyuhyun’s beautiful and pure heart once more.
But, all of Sungmin’s anxieties and worries quickly faded as, after they sat down, Kyuhyun rested his head on Sungmin’s shoulder. Sungmin smiled a little, and rested his head on the younger’s head.

First period passed slowly, and painfully. Sungmin couldn’t stand how every time the teacher turned his back to write on the board, Ryeowook would turn around in an attempt to catch Kyuhyun’s attention. Luckily, Kyuhyun was too good of a student to get distracted and was very intent on copying down the notes the teacher was providing as a study guide for the up coming exam.
This also meant that, once again luckily, Kyuhyun didn’t notice the dirty glares Sungmin was giving Kyuhyun. He would’ve scolded me for sure, Sungmin thought in his head.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity to Sungmin, the bell rang. Ryeowook was about to head over to Kyuhyun, but was interrupted by all the girls, and guys, that flocked around him.
In a desperate attempt to get Kyuhyun out of the class before Ryeowook could get to them, Sungmin pullled Kyuhyun by the hand out of the class swiftly, earning a startled outburst from Kyuhyun. When they were out of earshot, Kyuhyun demanded “Hyung, what was that? I almost dropped all of my notes!”
Sorry, Kyu, but I need to go to my locker before the next class starts. Come with me?” Sungmin replied.
Kyuhyun glared at him for a second, rolled his eyes, then smiled and said “Sure.”
While they walked away from the class, Sungmin noticed a flustered and panicking Ryeowook caught in the middle of the whole 11th grade student body that was hiddling around him. Sungmin smiled ruefully to himself, almost pitying Ryeowook, for Sungmin too had once been in that sort of situation.
-------------------
Lunchtime arrived, and Kyuhyun was raving on and on since 3rd period about the “awsomely-delicious” chicken cutlets the cafeteria served only once a month. Apparently, according to Kyuhyun, today was that day of this month that they were serving them.
As they waited in line, Kyuhyun bouncing on his toes impatiently and Sungmin lazily leaning against the counter top, Sungmin’s eyes wandered the cafeteria. He saw Heechul with Hankyung, Eunhyuk with Donghae, Kibum with Siwon, and Leeteuk with Kangin, Yesung, and Shindong sitting in the far corner talking amongst themselves. Eunhyuk looked up from the conversation and met eyes with Sungmin. Something told Sungmin from the look Eunhyuk gave him that something was up.
“Kyuhyun, stay in line. I’ll be right back.” Sungmin whispered to Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun looked at him puzzled, but nodded anyway.
Sungmin swiftly exited the line and made his way over to the far table at the back of the cafeteria where everyone was sitting. Sungmin made his way over to Eunhyuk, who offered him a seat. Sungmin just shook his head, and asked “What’s up? Why is everyone huddled over here and talking so slyly?”
Everyone looked at eachother. Sungmin looked around puzzled, and looked back at Eunhyuk for an answer. Eunhyuk hesitated, and Sungmin raised an eyebrow.
“You know Ryeowook is back. Everyone does.” Heechul stated, some acid in his voice.
The whole gang had a relationship to Ryeowook. They had accepted Ryeowook as one of them, until Ryeowook left without a word and broke the magnae’s heart. Now, everyone had lost their respect for Ryeowook.
Heechul had especially lost his respect for Ryeowook, since he was considerably close to the magnae. He treated Kyuhyun like a younger brother.
Sungmin looked over to Heechul, who continued “But unlike most, we know why he left, and why he’s back.”
