I FINALLY got my MEDAL!!

I'll leave you in suspense a moment while I cover the rest of the meet, from top to bottom.

Got up at 4:30 in the AM and got to the school around 5:10 -- I was a little early, while Sean showed up at the last minute. We all got settled on the bus (which was unusually warm, seeing as how it's normally freezing outside, but that day it was warm and humid out) and then took a nice long drive down to The Pit. I won't give details, but I didn't get a chance to sleep on the way down or home.

So we get there, and it's pretty warm inside. Boy's Long Jump was first, so I had a long time to wait until I had to do anything. I sat around with Sean and company for a long time, now and then going outside to run a few laps on the track to keep myself busy. I didn't jump so well, I think I ended up getting 14'03". I can't exactly remember why I didn't jump so well. I just remember that, right before my last jump, I got really tired, because I was running on about 4hrs of sleep.

Then I waited for the boy's triple jump to finish. I got in a few jumps -- the first one I scratched because I confused the boards. The second one I did fairly decently, could've gotten 32' if I had more speed. Then I went to go run the 4x200...

Which went really well, though we ended up getting second in our heat. Megan came out of the tunnel in second or third, can't remember which, so I rocketed out to try and catch up. I was in second place, and hard as hell determined to catch her. I didn't end up passing her, because I forgot that Caitlin was waiting for me to yell go. We collided, and the handoff cost us about 2 seconds -- enough to get a much better final placing. Doesn't matter too much though, because we medaled and we qualified for the VA Tech invitational =)

Then I went back to triple jump: tripped myself on the third jump (>.< doh) and landed like shit on the fourth one. Just before the fourth jump I learned we got a medal, though, so I was really excited and my nerves were all screwed up. At that point I was tired, frustrated (because I still had to run a 4x4), excited, happy, and strangely hyper. I hung out and then sulkily went to warm up with my team mates for the 4x4.

I hated that race after last year. After I ran my leg on Saturday, I'm feeling better about it, though, and I give credit to running cross country. I came in first (I was first leg.) so that was cool. On the second lap a chick passed me, but I made her take the far end of a turn and passed her, and then I got to throw some 'bows at a Handley chick so I could keep my position through the second turn. :) We ended up getting second in our heat, but I'm satisfied because I think I ran faster than Kerri did. I'll have to see if Ritter found those splits.

A very good meet :) Reminded me of why I love VMI so much. We went to Burger King for dinner (my first meal all day -- I'd been surviving on small quantities of chocolate for energy and pretzels for substance) and Sean did the sweetest thing:
He took a massive bite of his sandwhich, looked at me and said:
"I wuff 'oo."I laughed, swallowed a fry, and said "Aww, I love you, too." ----It was our 3-week anniversary. He surprised me by how much he referred to it. I remember this conversation:
"Y'know, three weeks ago I asked out this girl..."
"Oh really? How did that go?"
"Actually, it turned out pretty amazing."
The only way I could respond to that was with a giant smile and a kiss on the cheek.

I'm very, very happy. ^^

I need to study for my Bio. quarterly. Ugh.
