The skies above are clear and cornflower blue, a light breeze is all that dares move the leaves on the trees and the laughter of children fills the air. Happy cries of discovery and bright laughter that echoes round the clearing, drowning out the low hum of more serious, adult conversation.
His wife relaxes against him, happy and at peace with herself once more, his son and companion lounge nearby, the four of them finally in some kind of normal family life.
And it doesn’t matter where they are, because they’re with him. Whether they’re back in the Greenwood, surrounded by her kin, or in the West, which is more likely, they’re together again, and that’s what is important.
Just so long as they’re a family again.
My happily ever after is my wife at my right and my son at my left and we are once more a family, without pain tearing us apart, or the call of the sea separating us once more.
