Mrs. Epatha's: Chapter Three, Page Twelve

The first thing she saw was Victoria lying on the ground.  She was shaking uncontrollably and her mouth was wide and gaping, a line of drool trailing down past her chin.  Alexandria, always so calm and rational, was behind her, flattened against the wall like a reflection of Olivia as though hoping to sink into the tile and disappear.  She was screaming at the top of her lungs, too terrified to stop, but she still looked better than Victoria, who was so far beyond afraid she couldn't move, let alone yell.

Olivia followed their eyes to see where they were looking and found Amber standing between them and...and something, holding up the necklace that had been hidden under her uniform blouse.  It shone now like a tiny sun, making a barrier between Amber and...

And...

Looking at the large mirror above the sinks was something rotting and dark that drew light into itself and polluted the air.  It was like black mold was growing over the surface, spreading over the walls and weakening them, releasing something noxious to poison human lungs.  It swelled outwards, somehow translucent and yet solid at once like jellyfish tentacles, easing towards the girls like a loving mother wanting to caress her children...

Olivia knew with absolute conviction that the thing was evil, was wrong and unnatural on a soul-deep level.  Though it had no eyes Olivia knew it saw her, that it turned its attention to her the moment she walked through the door.

Tendrils of rot slid towards her, taking advantage of the dark corner she was in, away from Amber's light.  The air grew thicker, as though filled with rotting corpses, sending Olivia heaving.

Something grabbed Olivia's arm.
