Greetings, one and all. I hope you've been having a nice holiday season thus far.
It hasn't been terribly bad here, except that on the 22nd, poor Adrian got sick. He had a fever that didn't completely break until Christmas Eve. Aside from what appears to be a cold (runny nose, a little sneezing, a lot of coughing), though, he's been essentially fine since Christmas.
Well, unless you count the fact that he is the ONLY child I know of who did not want to open any of the presents waiting for him on Christmas morning. Seriously. All he wanted to do when he got up on Christmas was play with the Christmas train that circles the tree. We got it the year he was born, so he has loved that train since he was 2 months old. We had to practically BEG him to open his present from Santa. In response, he got mad and stormed up to his room to pout. When he came back down, he did open his present from Santa: a Buzz Lightyear. And then he could think of nothing but Buzz, who was so well anchored to the stupid packaging, it took a half hour to free him from all the plastic and cardboard and wires. We had to cajole him into opening more presents, the next ones being a toy Mater (from "Cars"), snow pants and socks. Then he decided he was done with presents and wouldn't open any others. It was similarly difficult getting him to see what was in his stocking, despite getting a DVD of "Mater's Tall Tales," a Spencer and Harold the Helicopter (both from Thomas and Friends) and candy. When my brother and his family came over, then he was happy to open presents because his two cousins were gung ho about it.
All in all, he got cookies, his first deck of Tarot cards, a M*A*S*H* t-shirt, the book The Polar Express, Buzz, Mater, Spencer, Harold, a "Cars" tire-fishing game, a glass that lights up in the bottom, Twizzlers, candy Santas, a first science kit, a "Toy Story" busy book, a remote-controlled Lightning McQueen, "Mater's Tall Tales," a drum kit, Mommy's old keyboard, and $50 cash. Not bad. ^_^
As for me, I got a lovely figurine, a calendar, a Deck of Many Things, a book of Beatrix Potter knitting patterns, a new coat lined with faux rabbit fur, a vintage doily and glass plate (both heirlooms from Grandma), $100 in cash... and I have a pending Mystery Gift my brother will get to me at some point in the future. Should be interesting. Santa did not bring me any job offers, though, even if I would have made a darned cute Christmas elf. ^_~
Anyway, I hope the new year has lots of wonderful things to bring for you all!
