Oh. My. Gods. Yeah, I had a bit of a surprise when I got home from work tonight.
MY FREEZER IS LEAKING!
I came home, and I heard at first what I thought were the cats and their mad scramble for their dinner (though it's Day 4 since the 'rents went on their annual vacation, and they're still not eating very well...). Then, I kept hearing it, and this time it sounded like water, and my first thought was "WTF? Is one of the cats peeing outside the box or something?" However, all three cats were accounted for--and there was no urine around them. Ooookay. THEN, I see the big puddle of water by the fridge, thanks in part to our youngest cat, Freja, who apparently believes that any available source of water is better to drink from than the water dish. Seriously, she climbs into sinks and tries to lick showers clean and such, but I digress.
Well, I currently have a bath towel under the freezer, and upon inspection, I *think* the water leak has something to do with the automatic icemaker, but I can't tell for certain. It looks like most of it is somehow leaking from the ice bin, but it's hard to tell. On the plus side, since all the foodstuffs still seemed to be frozen, I don't think the problem is related to whatever regulates the freezer temperature, but I know nothing about fridge/freezer repair, so I could be wrong. Also, I think it may have stopped for right now, but maybe it's just because I can't hear the water dripping onto the towel as opposed to the hardwood floor. -_-
Honestly, I have no idea what to DO about this. The folks are somewhere in Montana or Idaho by now. My brother may or may not know something, but I couldn't really say. At the moment, I'm just kinda watching it to see if maybe it resolves on its own, but otherwise, I might have to start making frantic phone calls tomorrow.
