our little empath

I was reading Hop on Pop to Nadia yesterday at my folks' house because they'd brought up a pile of books that had been mine. When we got to the page "He is after me," which involves a cat-like critter with large pointy teeth biting a Seuss-person's toe, I explained that the cat was biting his toe and it was probably "ow." A few pages later she wanted to go back to the ow page and talk about it. We did, and then I tried continuing to read the book again, but again we had to go back to that page and she gave it a hug. Then I had to give it a hug. Then we had to go into the other room to find Daddy, so he could give it a hug. I tried to move on to other books, and even put Hop on Pop out of sight, but periodically throughout the day, out of the blue, she would go looking for the book with the ow page to give it hugs and kisses. She wasn't distressed, it was just important.
