Hey all! I've got another request for input for an article--this is for a green living how-to piece.
Tell me about doing errands without a car, specifically errands that require carrying lots of stuff: groceries, laundromat runs, etc.
I'm particularly interested in:
(1) What have you used to transport stuff? Folding carts of some description (please specify)? Bike trailers (specify)? Strollers? A little red wagon? What have been the ups and downs of different methods if you've used more than one? Do you use different things for different types of errands?
(2) How have you worked around the following challenges:
--stairs
--getting carts on and off buses, especially full ones
--where to put the cart while shopping
--rain/snow
(3) Have you changed your habits any to allow you to do errands without a car? (e.g., more frequent, smaller runs; skipping the large heavy items; choosing closer stores)
(Please note: New Yorkers--I know this seems like no biggie to you. Kindly do not make fun of the rest of the country too badly if you choose to share your wisdom.)
request,
environmental
