Meh!

Right. I feel kind of drawn towards Cambridge. The English course sounds uber-awesome. But since I'm not from the UK, I have to be in the top 1 or 2 percent of my year. My grades are good, but not THAT good, and I will be graduating with Halla the Black. I suppose this means that I have to work a lot harder ( Read more... )

I looked up some pages that might help - you may have seen most or all of this before, but I thought I'd put it down anyway. For the record, I would not build any hopes on getting into Cambridge, their entrance requirements look quite scary, but by all means, apply! You're going to learn a whole lot about yourself in the process.

At first glance it looks as if you won't have to take an enormous number of tests - I think the Brits go easier on this aspect than the Yanks. You will have to take some sort of English test, though.

Yeah, I've seen that website. I've found a website with links to all English universities some time ago, but thanks anyway.

There's a lot of mention of something called GCE levels, which is probably something they take in British high schools (sounds like NEWTs to me). Is the Icelandic equivalent to that samræmd stúdentspróf?

And I agree about not getting my hopes up, but applying anyway.

The GCEs are, I think, roughly equivalent (in theory) to the samræmd stúdentspróf. Only GCEs are real, S.S. aren't. :D

But I'm anything but an expert on the British educational system. You should try to find someone who really knows the ins and outs on that side of the pond - such people are invaluable resources.

The food is TERRIBLE!!! I hvanen't been to Cambridge, but English food is simply bad, soaking in malt vinegar and mayonaise.
Eat foreign food, drink Volvic: Touch of Fruit, and go on a quest for vegetables; they do exist, but the English do not seem to be aware of the fact.
I dunno about your chances, but I guess you should apply for both. I liked Oxford. Wonderful, cheap, Book/CD/DVD store. Nice Indian place. Polite homeless guy.
