Oon Suomessa
I haven't posted in a while, but that's because I've been busy having adventures.
I spent pretty much all of yesterday travelling. Keflavík - Copenhagen, Copenhagen - Riga, and Riga - Helsinki. Then the bus to Turku. Since I'd never been to Latvia before, I felt that I had to buy a souvenir while I was on the Riga airport. I was too tired to think about it too much, though, so I just went into the sweets section and grabbed something strange-looking with a Latvian name. Luckily it turned out to be delicious.
Today I went to town with Mika to do all sorts of official business. First we went to the police station, where it turned out that I don't need to be registered, because I'm from a Nordic country. Then we went to the magistrate's office to get a social security number, where I had to fill in a form, but I couldn't finish it, because I don't have a permament place of residence yet. They told me I could take the form home and hand it in later. The problem was just that without the social security number I can't go to the employment office to apply for a job. And without a job I won't get any money and can't afford a place of my own. But without a place of my own I can't get a social security number. Gah, Catch 22!!
Oh well, we'll figure out something.
Tomorrow we're going to a Con for three days. We're still in the process of figuring out how to get there. Also, I need a sleeping bag. But it should be fun. Hopefully the weather will get cooler too.
