Festinord in Sweden once again. This time Mika-free, but despite that, it's been pretty good so far.
Yesterday:
Had nearly forgotten how terrible the beginning of Festinord can be. Or, rather, the part before the beginning when you're dragging three heavy bags through the Scandinavian summer heat all the way from the train station to some hidden school building after having barely slept the night before. But everything looks a lot better once you've taken a shower.
During the assembly before the dance last night, I found myself missing Mika quite a few times. The lonely feeling, however, disappeared completely when a Finnish girl told me she had a package for me from some Metsätähti in Turku. *loves*
The dance itself was fine. The theme was Red Carpet. I had borrowed a red satin dress from Halla the day before, so I looked quite on the gorgeous side. I even felt a bit overdressed compared to some (or most :P) of the boys, who weren't adhering to the theme and were just dressed in jeans and a shirt.
I danced a bit, but not the whole time. The fancy dress and high-heels restricted my movements, and the music was mostly not that good (although there were some awesome songs inbetween). I did take a lot of pictures, though. At some point the batteries in my camera went out, so I went into my room to get spares. I wanted to charge the dead batteries, but discovered, to my dismay, that my adapter for European sockets was broken. If I was just here for Festinord, I might get by, but since I'm going to Germany for a week afterwards, it'll be pretty annoying not to be able to charge my phone and my batteries or even use my laptop until then. Mehness!
Anyway, the best part of the dance: the band! They played a few songs, and they were really cool. I took some pictures of them, but I don't know if they are any good. After they had finished, and the DJ had taken control again, I saw the main vocalist and one of the background singers talking to some people nearby. I asked if I could take their picture and they didn't mind. They're called Escapist and the band members are from several different countries. The singer has a cute British accent and isn't too bad-looking either. ;)
At about half past nine I was tired (gimme a break; I hadn't slept the night before) and didn't feel like being fancy anymore. So I went to my room, put my pyjamas on and had a nap. The dance was going on just outside my door, so I could hear the music, but I didn't mind.
I woke up later to an unexpected sound: the voice of the singer of Escapist. So they hadn't finished playing after all, and were just taking a break!
I put on some comfy sandals and a hat and slipped out in my pyjamas. There I joined the rest of the people jumping like mad in front of the stage. It was so cool! I decided to become Escapist's groupie, but without the slutty part. :P
After a midnight snack and some H.P.Lovecraft I went to sleep for real.
Today:
I was really, really cold when I woke up. Due to lack of luggage space, I hadn't brought a duvet, but only a thin blanket. D:
I quickly warmed up once I was on my feet, though.
Had a couple of good classes. There was a Scottish guy named James in one of them, so I stopped him after class to ask whether he knows someone who has a spare British/European adapter. Unfortunately he told me that the other Scotts he had brought were all apparently intending to just let their phones die of starvation. He did promise me to ask around, though.
I then had breakfast with Jared, Unnur, Gudrún and her Swedish boyfriend. We were discussing romance, and Unnur became quite depressed about her bad luck in that field. I promised to find a guy for her. I told her that I had just met a nice Scotsman, and she replied that she loves all things British. We plotted and it was decided that when I saw James again, I would inform him that his future wife would be wearing a yellow dress tonight.
I did tell him that after the next assembly. He was pretty darn surprised, asking whether I had opened a fortune cookie for him. Mwhahahahaha!
Oh, and I also received the package from Mika. It contained an upa and home-made cookies. \o/ I called the sheep Uni.
The other things I've done today were playing Jenga, going to another class, taking a long nap and eating lunch. Oh, and updating my livejournal.
Tonight there will be a 50's dance, which should be interesting. I really hope Escapist are playing again. I also hope that not many girls will be wearing a yellow dress. Mwahahahaha!
Yes yes. I'll update more tomorrow, perhaps. Pictures will follow too at some point. See ya!
