How did you get introduced to the world of fanfiction?
- By stumbling on some fanfiction links while searching for the character list of a certain anime show I was watching at that time.
What drew you to the DBSK fandom?
- At the time, my passion for the Anime fandom was dwindling and it was also around the time when the JYJ lawsuit started happening. I was drawn to the emotions surrounding that incident and began writing poetry about it through the eyes of the members. I guess, in a way, that was my start to writing some sort of fanfiction for the fandom.
Do you remember which DBSK fanfic you read first?
- I can't really recall, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in my
recommendation's list.
Was there any particular DBSK fanfic that got you into writing for the fandom?
- All of them, I think. Although I had a hard time writing bandfic in the beginning because it was difficult transitioning from writing anime fanfics to bandfics about real people.
Favorite pairing(s) to write?
-
MinJae, being the main pairing and occasionally,
MinChun as well.
Least favorite pairing(s) to write?
- I've written just about every DBSK pairings possible, so I've kind of gotten the feel which pairing isn't my favorite. It's not that I don't like the pairing. It's hard to imagine two people that are compatible as friends in real life and in fanfiction, but not as something more romantic. I'm not going to name any pairings, because I like them all, some to an extent, but still every one of them is likeable.
Favorite pairing(s) to read?
- YunJae is my main one to go to when I want to read something romantic. I also like to read MinJae, MinChun and 2U as well, but it's hard to find well written stories about them. (I guess that's why I've taken up the task to write them myself because of the lack of fics with those pairings).
What is your favorite fanfic(s) from said pairings above?
- YunJae (
The Syndicate Series by
thetaintedblade,
A Learning Process by
little-passions)
MinJae (
Keep Me Safe and
Keep My Love both of which are written by
be-ddelusionall)
2U (
The Prince and His Vampire Boyfriend by
muwon and there was one drabble that I forgot the name to.)
MinChun (
Haven by
be-ddelusionall and
Hotel 0 by
chaebol , although they were just a side pairing (the main pairing being YunJae), the little snippets of them as a couple, made me want to ship them.)
Which fanfiction writers do you religiously read?
- I used to always read fanfics from
overflowingmuse and
beeswaxing, but now I'm currently waiting for new works from
thetaintedblade. All of these authors write for the YunJae pairing.
Do you have a background in writing?
- Educationally, I took a Creative Writing class two years ago with my best friend. I didn't like it though because of the limitations and that I couldn't do any abstract writing. However, I did start writing poetry and script writing when I was in seventh grade. I started writing fiction when I was in high school.
Are you satisfied with your current writing style?
- I'm not sure if I have a writing style to begin with. I write in a way that matches the voice I envisioned in my mind to be. If I achieved that, then I am satisfied.
When you compare your latest writing style to your earlier ones, what stands out to you the most?
- What surprised me the most, was that there was a time when I wrote really good descriptions. But now ... I don't see any of that writing and I'm disappointed in myself for not being able to keep that writing style with me.
Do you edit your writing before you post/upload it?
- I always do, despite the fact that I always warn my readers about my fanfics being un-beta'd.
You write specifically for Angst, have you thought of branching out?
- I do, but it really depends on my mood or idea that determines whether or not I branch out to different genres.
Tell us a little about "
The Color of Confusion".
- It's a Murder/Mystery story about two high school boys getting caught up in a murder where the victims are from their school.
What made you start "
Make It Count"?
- A GIF of Changmin being hugged in the underground subway station for his movie, "Fly With The Gold" and the fact that I wanted to show a darker, more dangerous side to prostitution.
How hard was it for you to get into the emotional side of "
Temporary Pain"?
- It was easy to get into the mood of the story, but painful for me to relive the memories associated with Junsu's character.
Do you sometimes find it difficult to get into the mind of a character when writing out a scene?
- Not really. Honestly, it was actually really easy. I didn't have to think that hard about it. I thought, 'Think about it from their perspective'. If you know your character's personality, then their thinking should come easily.
Who do you visualize when you're writing a new fanfic?
- That depends on who the main character is.
Is it hard to get into the male mind of a character or the female mind of a character?
- Both male and female mind isn't that different from each other. The only thing that makes each gender different, is their personalities. But when you get down to the base of their thinking, it's practically the same.
What's the craziest situation you've ever put your characters in?
- What's not the craziest situation I've put them in? I like to experiment on any taboo situation that I can think of and I think they're all crazy in a way (just like me). (EX: Murder, Rape, Child abuse, Animal abuse, Suicide, Incest, etc.)
If you could go back and change any aspect of your stories, what would it be?
- I can't think of any at the moment.
You seem to be open to controversial, disturbing, and otherwise, emotional subject matters. Is there anything you wouldn't read or write?
- I wouldn't read: Gore, heavy violence, child/animal abuse, aliens kidnapping people, victims falling in love with their kidnapper/killer
I wouldn't write: Aliens kidnapping people
Do you ever feel that you over-complicate your story lines?
- Always, because whenever I start a chaptered story, I feel the need to create a background for the main characters and the minor characters. I like how I can weave all the characters together in a way that they are somehow connected to everyone else. It seems like a genius idea in my head, but when I get so engrossed in this "weaving" of stories between the characters, I somehow lose sight of the story's main goal. Which is really bad.
Out of all the stories you've written so far, which one is your favorite?
- I have a handful of stories that I hold dear to my heart. I don't see them as my favorite, they're more like my precious babies since I emotionally invested in each and every one of these stories.
Make It Count - MinChun (Drama, Angst) Character Death
Temporary Pain - JaeSu, Implied! MinJae (Angst, Tragedy) Character Death
Shackled Freedom - Implied YunJae, OC/Jaejoong (Angst, Tragedy) Implied Character Death * Friends Only
Dying With You - MinJae (Tragedy, Romance) Character(s) Death
When you find yourself completely stuck and nothing you do works anymore, what do you do to get back into writing?
- I would find ideas, challenges or prompts to spark my motivation again. And if those doesn't work ... then I just wait until I feel like writing again. People say that you have to force yourself to write something at times like these, but I've tried countless times and it doesn't work. If I force myself to write something that I don't feel like writing, it just drags and I don't like the feeling. Sometimes, waiting is the best option when everything else fails.
What do you love most about writing?
- Seeing my ideas/visions that started in my head, being put down into words and having people read it and like it.
For those readers who are not familiar with your writing, how would you generally describe the type of stories you write?
- I write what interests me at the moment. One thing I would like to warn my readers about ... I don't write sex based off of romance. Like, making out or making love ... yeah ... I don't write that kind of sex scene. So, if you like those things ... don't expect to find any in my stories.
What are you working on now?
- I'm trying to finish
Only You and this long 2U oneshot that I started a year ago. So far, that's my current goal. If there are other projects, it would be spontaneous ones and about five-hundred to a thousand words long.
What do you hope that people would get out from reading your stories?
- That no matter how hard you try to shut out the negative things in life by thinking positive thoughts, the negative things in life will still be there ... waiting to tear you apart.
