The Astrid Lindgren Legacy
I for some reason started thinking about
Ronja Rövardotter (Ronia The Robber's Daughter) film.. and the 1984 film adaption of Astrid Lindgren's novel sure is a superb film. Some of Astrid Lindgren's best stuff, alongside
Pippi Långstrump in my opinion. And speaking of the latter, whatever you do, stay clear of the
newly made animated series from 1997! It is horrible! All kinds of details that are wrong or Americanised, ugh. Then it is much better to watch the original Swedish series from 1969, even if it is not subtitled or anything, trust me.
Ronja is available as a movie-movie as well as a 3 part series if memory serves me right, which really is the movie cut into three parts + a few additional scenery shots. And according to the movie's imdb.com forum there is but one official subtitled version in the world, but there are also "homemade" DivX subtitles around..
A personal quote of Astrid's according to imdb.com is:
"Have I managed to brighten up one single miserable childhood then I'm satisfied."
Dear Astrid, wherever you are now, Thank You so much for making mine and other children's childhood (and adulthood) filled with such wonderful stories.
This was btw an interesting imdb forum post about Astrid's stories..
Ronja Rövardotter is a great movie for many reasons. Partly 'cause of
Astrid's wonderful story, and partly 'cause of the director
Tage Danielsson and of course the actors. So in other words, wonderful story, amazing scenery and great acting/singing.

Needlebinding Goodness
I've been updating and slightly restructuring
my Needlebinding page. It sure is easy when one has a working layout, as opposed to
my ElfQuest pages that are still a mid-layout mess.. gah, must deal with them soon. And I do hope my gracious webhost's new host is behaving itself.
Needlebinding is such a relaxing thing to do when I need to take things easy and not think too much about all the things I have yet to finish. I need to see B in person soon I suspect, as she is the one that ever so patiently taught me needlebinding and I'd want to learn more complex stitches. Some of the more complex stitches are more sturdy and better suited for stuff that gets more wear and tear, like socks.
And oh yeah, I finally finished my first needlebound item, that is really what brought on the needlebinding-o-rama in the first place (as well as some ponderations as to whether Ronja wore something seemingly needlebound or not in the movie). Continued on the hat I started upon many moons ago, and it should fit my niece, although it probably is a wee bit big. I'm thinking it'll shrink a bit when washed anyhow, yet I suppose I could give fulling a try but chances are it'd get inrecognisable (and too oddly shaped) so it might best to make a hat just for the sake of trying fulling.
Workfront
On the workfront not much new, alas..
Although with T having shown us
The 5 Most Overrated Jobs of All Time, I'll certainly try to avoid those ;)
