Paul Newman, who recently succumbed to cancer at 83, had the uncanny ability to turn hustlers, hucksters and outlaws into lovable, silver screen rakes. In "Cool Hand Luke" he played a untamable prisoner, in "The Verdict," an unscrupulous lawyer and in "The Sting," a wily con artist. And he made those lying castoffs reasons to buy popcorn and cheer. In this scene from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," he illustrates why it's always more fun to root for the one who doesn't play by the rules.
