The cards correctly placed a 7-valued card with an active/masculine suit in the lower left, but of the two such cards, selected the wrong one. Try the seven of swords instead (and those are feelings about you rather than feelings about the relationship with you, in case you're tempted not to make that distinction).

Traditional Rider-Waite imagery shows the figurehead of the card dancing between two focal points. On his left there is the establishment of a community, where home is. To his right, there is a small cluster of people, seemingly in deep discussion.

Note how our figure points his head (the seat of our senses - hearing, smelling, tasting, seeing - although, note the eyes are closed) to the gaily colored tents - where the community is established. Yet, his entire body points in the opposite direction.

Here we see the first interpretive hit leaning towards impulsivity, and an unheeding nature. We must ask ourselves, why does the figure walk with eyes closed? And why is he moving in the opposite direction of where his senses are pointed?

Do you get the sense of blind indirection in the seven of swords card? Our figure cannot know where he goes without projecting his senses in that direction first. The message: "There is no hope of finding our true path if we give no consideration to the direction we are taking first."

Is this card wrong, too? mirandaaskew September 28 2010, 20:38:10 UTC
The card in the lower left represents how your partner sees you. Seven of Wands (Valor): Standing courageously for your beliefs in the face of adversity. Fear of failure overcome by the will to succeed. Great obstacles met with heroism and determination. Inner strength brought to bear at a critical moment.

That was the card that I was replacing with futility. While your work involves a good deal of what can be seen as standing courageously for your beliefs on the environment etc., in the actual business dealings of your work, you consistently avoid setting prices, adjusting product lines, etc. in such a way that you could generate a real income, and divert a good deal of your energy to scrounging for tax write-offs, subsidies, and sources of under-the-table supplementary income (e.g. focus groups). Consequently, you are almost always too busy trying to manage your poverty to actually do anything. One only had to see the way your eyes lit up when you began talking about the provisions in family law for "hardship" and their applicability to you. You don't run your business as a means of direct income; you run it as a means to build social esteem within very specific circles, while facilitating your collection of a variety of credits and subsidies ( ... )

I've learned a lot from you with regards to my business, and am still trying to integrate my personal preferences with the need to continue to make my business viable.

The tax credits I have been receiving do mean that until I double my business earnings, I will not take home more, so I am likely to remain "poor".

I don't need tax write offs, let alone scrounge for them.

I don't do focus groups under the table. I add it to my business income along with the sales of second hand health related books and items as I declutter.

It sounds like you disrespect and hate me.

What do you think stands between us? mirandaaskew September 28 2010, 21:39:52 UTC
The card in the center right represents what stands between you and your partner. Ace of Wands: The seed of a new venture - perhaps as yet unseen. An opportunity to be met with boldness, vigor, and enthusiasm. The herald of birth, invention, or entrepreneurship. An innate and primal force released. May suggest a surge of vitality, creativity, or fertility that can set things in motion.

Honestly, I don't get this.

No. I miss you. I've been missing you for years. You're too busy spinning your wheels for me to even know much about you anymore, except that you're always busy spinning your wheels. In the past year or so, how many times have I offered/tried to take you out for dinner? How many times have you declined on account of being too busy?

After getting back from Poland, I stayed up late (while jetlagged and exhausted) waiting for you to get back from the New Moon thing. Were you on time? When you did get back, what did you do?

All you're doing is working, and never making time for the people in your life. Petra rarely ever comes around. Why should she? Would she have your attention if she did, or would she have to try and amuse herself amidst all your supplies and materials while you pore over a spreadsheet and ask her for help doing your dishes?

And what do you have to show for all this work? A hopelessly cluttered house? An almost-estranged daughter? A failing/failed marriage?

*sigh*

Well, that's heartbreaking.

Since I've heard this before, I'll print your words and keep them. I think I know why I overwork - aside from my zeal to build social esteem - but it's too personal to talk about.

Thanks.
