Konbanwa, minnasan, I hope everyone out there in Cyberland is doing well! It's been a very busy day today. I've got three more to go and then a day off and then six in a row after that! Then, I finally get to head off to NDK. (Man, I'll be glad for a vacation!)
In the mean time, I wrote this little fic after listening to "The Last Unicorn" by America a couple times. To be honest, I actually started crying at the end of this, I was so moved by it. I hope everyone enjoys and ja ne for now! =~.^=V

Heechul yawned and stretched out his arms. The evening sky was painted a beatiful array of vibrant oranges, bright yellows and forming mellow reds. Beyond the exquisite colorscape were dots of soft dark blues and sprinklings of glittering stars trying to press outwards to be seen.
The brunette let his bare feet soak up the coolness from the grass below him. The breeze tickled through his hair and caused his black button up shirt and loose slacks to rustle. The feel was welcome against his sweat tinged skin.
The trees swayed in delight, sending a myriad of colored blossoms fluttering to the ground and over Heechul's raised head. The air was perfumed with sweet scents of apple and cherry blossoms. Nearby, wild roses were bobbing, letting off a luscious aroma.
Heechul drew in his breath again, just savoring the mixed scents and sensations. A branch broke to the left of him and he quickly turned his head. A shadow had fallen close to an ancient, knotted tree at the entrance of a forest. He could make out slender, beautiful fingers drag across the bark and then disappear.
Out of curiousity, the brunette rose from the grass and headed the direction of the old tree. He could hear the barest hint of movement somewhere inside the treeline. The sunlight had almost faded, leaving the woods to sink into a kind of inky stillness. Despite the darkness, Heechul realized he wasn't afraid.
Once again, the sound of branches moving caught his attention. He left the side of the olden tree and began to move inside of the woods. The entrance seemed to close up behind him. The sound of movement caused him to spin several directions.
His heart began to race as he couldn't grasp his directions. He almost jumped when a nearby owl hooted. He quickly calmed himself and then felt nervous all over again as the sound he had been following seemed to be coming directly to him.
Heechul took a couple steps back, his heel impacting another large tree behind him. He moved to the right and slipped behind the wide trunk. He barely peeked out from behind the foliage.
His mouth fell open when a person came into view. He had shaggy, blondish hair, with bangs that almost fell into his eyes. He wore a flowing, silver white robe that seamed to soak up the nearby flickerings of some fireflies. He had a pair of equally volumnious slacks on and was wearing no shoes. Even his flawless skin, somehow pale and exquisite, glittered in the nearly nihlistic light.
"....eeteuk?" Heechul barely whispered.
Eeteuk didn't notice Heechul. Instead, he began to cross in front of the hidden younger man. The trees began to shake and Heechul watched in awe as they split apart, allowing Eeteuk access. As the man disappeared, the lilthe youth scurried to follow behind him. The trees began to close in just as Heechul squeezed through the last little area.
His eyes widened as a turqouise tinted lake came into view. The night sky had taken over and every shimmering star seemed to be casting their light down onto the water. The waves barely lapped the shoreline and more fireflies, lightning bugs and other small creatures began to gather and flutter around all angles of the lake.
Heechul drew forward, unable to resist getting a closer look. He stopped and quickly diverted to duck behind a large rock when he saw Eeteuk draw close to the water. The man looked ethereal among his surroundings.
The water moved a bit, waves lifting and falling, despite there being no real breeze. Heechul risked moving a bit farther out from behind the rock. He scooted on his knees until he could see Eeteuk in completion.
The man lifted out his hand and the water swirled and moved upwards. Heechul's breath was stolen as Eeteuk's clothing seemed to become immersed in the twisting liquid. Each new strand wrapped around the elder man. He slowly turned, as if directing the water with his will.
The wind began to blow harder. Heechul could feel somehow a warm and cold sensation from the air. The gusts struck Eeteuk, the water responding and tightening around the man's form. Another sudden wisp blew Eeteuk's hair back.
Heechul's mouth went dry as he saw a mark on Eeteuk's forehead. It was a perfect flared star, unflawed and beautiful. He didn't even know he had raised his hand, as if he could reach out and touch the mark from a distance.
A sudden crack of thunder had Heechul hiding behind the rock again. When the rumbling let up, Heechul risked another look. He rubbed his eyes once and then twice. He stood up slowly, moving out from behind the stone.
In Eeteuk's place was an exquisite white horse with a glittering silver horn at the end of it's head. It stomped it's front foot a couple times before letting out a grunt.
"Unicorn?" Heechul wondered to himself.
The creature turned once, it's attention focused completely on the rock Heechul was now standing. A moment of recognition reached Heechul's muddled mind. The animal had the same flared star mark on the front of it's head.
"Eeteuk?" Heechul whispered again.
The unicorn heard Heechul's faint words and reared up on it's hind legs. The white animal began to gallop off toward the forest.
"Eeteuk!" Heechul called. "Eeteuk, come back! Come back!!!"
The young man began to run after the amazing creature. But the faster he ran, the more he felt like he wasn't moving. The forest began to close in on him again. The lake was somehow diminishing in size and the wind had gotten so much colder.
"EETEUK, PLEASE COME BACK! PLEASE!" Heechul cried loudly.
"Heechul! Heechul!" a voice tore through the loud gusts above his head.
"Eeteuk! Where are you?! I can't see you!" Heechul responded.
"HEECHUL, WAKE UP!"
Heechul set up with a yell. He flayed his arms wildly until another set of hands stopped his limbs. He blinked owlishly at a blondish haired man staring back at him.
"Why did you run away, Eeteuk?!" Heechul demanded.
"Run away, what are you talking about?" Eeteuk asked the younger man back.
Heechul paused and then shook his head. He looked around his surroundings. It was his dorm room, the forest having been replaced with dull walls. The turquoise lake was now old, wooden floors. The perfect breeze was the sound of the clacking fan next to his bed.
"What the..." Heechul began.
"You were talking in your sleep again. You started to shout for me, so I came in. Must have been one heck of a dream." Eeteuk mused.
The brunette glowered slightly and rubbed his temples. He shook his head a couple times before tilting it back and forth to pop his neck.
"I dreamt that you were..." Heechul began.
"That I was?" Eeteuk questioned.
"Never mind, it's nuts even for me."
"No, tell me." Eeteuk pressed.
Heechul rolled his eyes and let out a huff.
"You have to swear to me that you won't laugh."
"I swear."
"All right. I... I dreamt that you turned into a unicorn."
Heechul almost snarled as Eeteuk tried to do everything in his power to not burst into laughter. The corners of his mouth were turning upwards and he was trying to choke down the sound.
"See?! I knew I shouldn't have told you!"
"No, it's fine!" Eeteuk managed to get out. "Why don't you take a shower and then we'll go and have breakfast, okay?"
Heechul just grumbled as he kicked his legs out of bed. He grabbed a towel and then paused at the door. He turned back to Eeteuk and studied him for a moment.
"What is it?" Eeteuk asked as he cleared his throat.
"Nothing. I mean... Jungsu?"
"Yes?"
"You wouldn't happen to have any unusual marks on you, would you?"
"Go and take a shower, Heechul."
The brunette half smiled at that. He headed out of the door. Eeteuk still sat on his bed until he heard the bathroom door open and close. The group leader rose from his position and then walked down the hall to his own room.
He opened the door and closed it behind him. Silently, he walked over the mirror and stared at his image. A small container of makeup remover rested to the right on his nightstand. He reached over and picked it up.
Dabbing a small cotton ball into the mixture, he lifted up his long bangs. Slowly, he began to drag the softness over his forehead. Little by little, color began to rub off on the cotton's whiteness. After a few more swipes, he set the ball down and lifted his bangs with his hand once again.
The flare star mark on his forehead glimmered like an exquisite jewel against his skin. He closed his eyes and could almost hear the forest around him. He could smell the apple and cherry blossoms. He could see the lake he loved so much, with the lightning bugs and fireflies and all the other creatures.
He hadn't meant for one of his memories to leave him and touch Heechul's dream. It had been a pure accident and he was glad he could play it down.
After all, Heechul was the reason he had left that world behind him. Why he gave up his immortality and perfection to take on a human form. To give away the ease of being the last of his kind and the simplicity of his untouched world to follow a human who still didn't know how he truly felt about him or what he truly was.
"Teukie?" a soft voice whispered.
Eeteuk turned to see Donghae slipping through the door. He didn't lower his hand, instead turned to look at the younger member. Donghae, who had seen through Eeteuk's human facade the moment they met, but never said anything. Donghae, who had kept his secret and in turn became his best friend. Donghae, who knew what Eeteuk gave up to be with a man who didn't know how much he loved him.
Eeteuk looked at Donghae. Tears were already rolling down his best friend's face. Eeteuk felt his own precious diamonds tumble down his cheeks as his mouth formed the words.
"I'm alive."
END.
