So I tried watching Queen In-hyun's Man. Everyone's just gushing over how awesome it is, how winning the characters are, how exciting the plot is. I wanted to see this for myself, and, well, I was quite disappointed.

It's Secret Garden all over again. I didn't hate that drama, but the universal gushing over it left me scratching my head. No, this isn't an SG rant post.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I didn't like QIHM. I may be quitting too early - I'm only two episodes in - and I do see the promise of aforementioned exciting plot and winning characters (I love Hee-jin already and I like Boong-do well enough). It's just that the editing sucks ass. Seriously. I followed the plot well enough, but the switching back and forth from 2012 to Joseon and the flashbacks within flashbacks made me dizzy. It's odd because I followed the frenetically paced first episode of Rooftop Prince well enough. I guess those damn multiple angle closeups kept distracting me.

What's with the unnecessary multiple angle shots for mundane dialogue? They're jarring and annoying, and ultimately detracts from the scene. These are more prevalent in the 2012 scenes where either Hee-jin or Soo-kyung is mouthing off, and the drama shows no signs of getting better at it. So, buh-bye.

Don't get me wrong. Unlike the mystery that is SG, I could see why people would like QIHM. It just didn't click, and I simply couldn't get invested enough to see if it gets better.
