[to use the full title or whatever]
I have finished the game, somewhat painfully, with NegaScott [lol BAD ENDING], as well as FINALLY gotten the Extra Game Modes unlocked with some aggravation [d-pad must be loose]. Boss Rush is cool, but I can't clear it yet because I'm stubbornly plowing through on SUPREME MASTER when I'm not--similarly for Horror Survival mode [or Zombie Rush or whatever it's called]. I'm nearing the top 100 in the leaderboards for Story Mode, though, and have quit just because it's incredibly grindy and I don't have a particular goal anymore now that all[?] characters are unlocked.
[?] because there's an extra slot for "???" in the options--a future d/l character? or just unfinished business? =p Aagh, can't worry about it now! Got zombies and bosses to kill!
So. My reassessment of the characters:
Best: I'm leaning back towards Kim, because I've gotten more practice in with how to pull off her Tech 2, and her manic slapping attack is great for hitting a lot of enemies in front and one or two behind. It may be bias, but... so I'm biased.
Worst: Still Ramona, although she's the best starting off due to the general similarity of the characters' base abilities.
Second Worst: NegaScott, starting off. I need to check, but his starting stats are ALL ZEROES, where I'm sure the others start with at least 1s for everything. In addition, he has half the Guts capacity as the other characters, even with maxed stats [100 to everyone else's 200-210]. As I mentioned, NegaKnives is better to make up for it, but it doesn't make up for it THAT much. Unlike with the other characters, it took me FOUR playthroughs just to get to the second area of World 1, meaning I couldn't upgrade my stats in all that time. ABSOLUTE PAIN. Getting to buy even a small stat bonus greatly improved ease of gameplay and, as a result, the rest of the game went much more smoothly.
A lot of my opinion depends on my particular method of play, of course. I find myself using Strong attacks with Ramona more, for instance, to get that range, but with every other character I rely more on Weak attacks leading into combos, if I don't try to throw as many Tech attacks as possible. Maybe I just don't know the timing well enough to use Ramona better, but on the whole she doesn't seem that easy to use.
Also, Counter seems to be the best basic attack for all characters... if I can pull it off. Usually it doesn't seem to work, which has been the cause of many a sudden death.
How long will I keep playing this, at the expense of all my other projects... suppose I'll be doomed if they release DLC, although if they don't patch the lock-up glitches, that might answer my question.
