I am sad, sad, sad. I wish I had woken up in a tent at crown this weekend. Although waking up in my bed, with my boy, a dog on my feet and a coffee maker on timer wasn't so bad either. And had I gone to crown I wouldn't be getting all the puppy lovin this weekend from Toryn & Evja's wonderful dogs whom we are watching.

Since I am missing my first crown in 3 years, I decided to throw a party today. Alas, almost everyone I know is either going to crown or at a wedding, and even the weather isn't cooperating. Its going to be damp, lightly rainy and overcast all day....

Tristan goes back on days next week.... I am happy and sad. I like having him home in the evenings quite a bit, but I also like my alone time. He has been on nights for the past 2 weeks and its been pretty awesome to just come home and do my thing. I suppose I will get used to it... right?

Work has been interesting. There is a lot of drama and upheaval in my company at the moment. Its all easily summed up with "If what you've been doing in the past was working you wouldn't have been bought out." The refrigeration service side of my company has only been around for a year.... they didn't move into our building and become totally integrated until January. The upheaval from that move hasn't settled yet and the parent company hasn't fully separated the wheat from the chaff. That separation is part of why I was brought on, to fill in the voids left by departing uselessness.... Sadly the previous owner of the service department and his #2 are chaff so trying to find ways to redistribute their usefulness is a challenge. In the meantime, I am seeing how the world treats "receptionists" and how spoiled I was at T&M. The guys who need a reality check have no respect for a woman with brains. They have no concept that although I am not a ticketed refrigeration technician, I have been in the trade long enough to be a journeyman just not on the tools. I am 90% sure I would do decently well on the theory and application tests in trade school just not on the practical hands on stuff. Thankfully my controller has my back and is working with me, the general manager and the president to sort these issues out. They could have a receptionist who did nothing but open mail, answer phones, data entry and invoicing for a lot cheaper then they got me for. I come with relevant skills and years of experience in the industry and those are being wasted and condescended to. Yesterday the controller gave me permission to bite back, as long as its done tactfully. Things should get interesting. I have a laundry list of things that need clarifying and updating if we are going to grow our service division. I helped bring a service company from a maintenance base of 2.5 million to 7+ million, the things I could do with a company sitting at 200K are astronomical..... if they'd let me be something other then a "Thank you for calling Vets, how can I help you?".

The house is a mess... and needs some redecorating. I have a loose idea of how I want to make it MINE, I just have to get there... I think I will start with new window dressings for the living room (today dammit!).

We bought a reptile cage this weekend... it was on supersale at Petsmart so we couldn't turn t down. Once the last rodent is re-located to a home that can pay more attention to her, I will start working on the set up. I want a bearded dragon or a chinese water dragon. Tristan wants something more exotic...we will see what comes of it.

That pretty much sums up my non-sca life at the moment. Everything is ticketyboo and I am kinda lovin it!

SCA post will be forthcoming.
