Blerg and Blah!
Work: Better? Worse? Both?
The president had a heart attack, at 31. It was mild and he is fine now, but it was understandably caused a bump in the road around here. Which also means all the plans we were making for the service department are on hold-ish. The general manager is trying to implement things and get the department sorted out, but he can only do so much without the president here.
Someday, someone needs to man up and tell the service manager and foreman that they are nothing but additional burden rate and need to start making the company money or GTFO. You dont need 5 office staff to maintain less then half a million in maintenance base a year plus.... maybe another half million in projects. *grump*
Life: Tristan is getting a new truck. Thats been an ordeal and the source of our first ever fights. Well sorta fights. It goes like this: He does something rash, I point out reality, he gets mad at the reality check, he realizes I am right, he gets mad at himself, we have great make up sex! Money's been tight for the past few months, and its going to get tighter. It just means we need to get our shit together and figure out where all our money goes (I'd bet on eating out). Tristan got a smoking deal on the new truck (Thank You Dezi!) and with his Dad cosigning, the payments aren't outrageous. We KNEW he was going to need a new truck this winter but holy hell did I ever learn a lot during this process. Number ONE lesson: NEVER EVER go through a used dealership. I will always buy from the brand dealership thanks to this. Other then that, I am getting things together in my house and making it look like MY home, not some place I live in. I do want to make some rag rugs though.... need to figure out how to make a frame without power tools.
Sewing: I am epic-ly sick t-tunics!!! I am finishing off a commission for Fenric to make 4 t-tunics (machine sewn, hand finished. One more tunic to go). Once his commission is done, I have one more for Billy B (which is non-priority) and I am saying NO to more commissions until after sargentry trials. Before 12th Night I want: Brown Wool gown completed (also my sargentry trials entry-see Braun Kampfrau Diary http://minyata.livejournal.com/99757.html
), a properly documented pleated apron (See Smocked Apron Diary http://minyata.livejournal.com/97729.html) I also want a new hemd and maybe a Barrett. The hat has been on my bucket list for FRIGGIN EVER! I have a pattern, I have the materials. I think I just need to do it already.
SCA: One event a month is the plan (except November where I am insisting on going to both Samhain for the Baronial Changeover in Montengarde and November Coronet). So for now the plan is: Rhuddglyn Event, Samhain, Coronet, Yule, (non-SCA vacation to Arizona to spend Christmas with my Mom), Montengarde 12th Night, February Investiture. Thats not to say that if someone has room in their vehicle for a day trip, or room in their vehicle and space on their floor for an overnight I wont go! It just means these are the events I am going to even if I drive out alone.
This schedule does lack the Kingdom level events I'd like to go to.... but I can't afford the time off work with the vacation to Arizona and spending the first Christmas my Mom's been home in 5 years with her is important.
Otherwise, lots of studying for Sargentry.... bit by bit I am memorizing heraldry. Once I have that down, its on to warfare stuffs....Oh and I need to make sure I am not doing my letter of intent at the last minute. I have been inspired now though, so I have to figure out how to draw the bits I want (well trace... on paper I can both paint with gauche and do calligraphy....) and finish the wording.
