Layout Codes

There's a concern regarding the linking of a download link (i.e. www.box.net) to get the codes instead of including them in the post. It's similar to making someone else go to another journal to grab the codes, which is against the rules. This rule exists to prevent linking the codes to a dead or locked page/journal/etc, making the codes inaccessible.

I personally have nothing against this (as long as the link isn't password-protected or restricted in any other way) but in the event that the link expires, it becomes a problem. What do you guys think about this?

Here's some points:

Codes included in the post
- The codes will remain accessible to everyone at all times because it's not included in an outside source
- If the codes are too long, LJ will not save the entry because the post is 'too large'

Codes accessible from a download link (NOTE: Codes must not be restricted in any way!)
- There's a risk of getting a virus from the download url
- If the link expires, the codes will not be accessible anymore until it's reuploaded
- Users can post multiple codes (variations of a layout, etc.) in one post
