it's like the day the Internet exploded

it makes me so incredibly happy that people are flipping out all over the place about what happened with Adam's performance last night.  ^_^

I hate that I had to work last night & missed it - just because we don't usually have Tuesday night performances, that one was just added because we're not having a show on Easter Sunday... which is good, but whhyyyy Tuesday?  *sniffle*  ok, so anyway, I wasn't home for AI last night and my mom actually texted me during the middle of our second act to say OMG Simon just gave Adam a standing ovation!!!  *scream*  that never happens.  ever.  so, as if I wasn't absolutely dying to see what the brilliant boy did this week, now it was just killing me to know what song it was & I really really wanted to see it.  ... well, that wasn't even half the story.

it was beautiful.  I couldn't wait for someone to up the torrent of the whole show (which is how I usually watch it when I can't be home) so I watched the clip that someone upped that was just his performance.  Seriously, he did Mad World by Tears For Fears.  I love that song so much, you have no idea, & I've been a huge Tears For Fears fan since I was a kid, but he completely put their original version to shame - it was that insanely amazing.  <3  I got all teary and started crying & watched it 15 times on repeat, it was just gorgeous, & it's just such an emotional, brilliant song & he completely owned it.  I could go on & on about how great it was and how much I love it, but that would take forever.  so, anyway.

He was the last person to perform of the 8, which is usually a really great thing, it's the pimp spot, and he hasn't been last before.  He's always at the end - because people watch the show for him & would probably turn it off after his performance if it was earlier in the show - but this time, they screwed up.  The show is live and apparently, it went overtime... resulting in everyone who relies on DVRs (does no one actually watch things when they're really on anymore?!) missing his performance entirely because he came on after 9 when the show should have been over & everyone's Tivos stopped recording.  Now people are flipping out & demanding that they re-air his performance & that the director of the show should be fired for this (!!! whut? bit extreme, people)  and that if this affects his votes, then it shouldn't be counted, etc.  ...see, this is why I have never watched this show before, these people are rabid.

anyway, there was an article about it, actually on the main AOL welcome screen today!  it's crazy.  & apparently, Adam is the #1 Google search for the day because of people looking for video of his performance and stuff - especially because Simon gave him a standing ovation for it & I don't know if he's ever done that before... it's freaky.  & I e-mailed the article to my mom cause I thought it was funny & said you know, they should just re-air it on tonight's show so people get to see it, or - better yet, have him perform it again, that would be awesome.  ...  this.  is the e-mail I get back from her.  "If he performs it again tonight…you won’t be home…which means you will miss it again!!!"  >_>  geez mom, thanks.  she is so not funny.  XD

& here is the article because I like the headline & it's funny.  ^_^

'Idol' Runs Long, DVRs Cut Off Adam Lambert's 'Mad World.' Cue Outrage.

The good news: 'American Idol' cut down to a one-hour performance episode this week.

The bad news: It didn't finish on time and cut off a contestant. And that contestant was front-runner (and controversy-generator) Adam Lambert.

Usually, the final performance in the line-up is known as the "pimp slot," since that's the last one viewers remember as they dial. But tonight, 'American Idol' cut down to one hour, and host Ryan Seacrest couldn't keep things running on time.

Instead, the show ran over eight minutes long, and Adam, who sang last, didn't make it in before 9PM ET.

So, if you heard screams coming from the next room or the next house, they probably came from a DVR user who didn't get to see Adam rock 'Mad World' by Tears for Fears and get a standing ovation from the judges.

Bad form, 'Idol.' If Adam, who's never been in danger so far this season, winds up in the bottom three -- we'll know whose fault it is.

Maybe it isn't Seacrest's fault. The host defended himself on Twitter, saying that his DVR also missed Adam's performance: "idol went long. producers build the show time... 8 singers 4 judges... my tivo cut out too." However, bloggers like MJ are placing blame on the show's director: "Bruce Gowers needs to be fired."

..... so, my other question here is, why does Ryan Seacrest DVR the show he hosts?  dork.

music, fangirl is me, work, theatre, glambert for the effin' win!, mom
