Story of the day.

My mom stopped for some groceries on Victoria St. today. When she got back, the car wouldn't start. The radio worked. The windows operated. There was still gas left in the tank. The car simply wouldn't start, so we tried calling my dear father - multiple times. My dear father wasn't at work. He also wasn't answering the home phone. My not-so-dear father hadn't turned on his cell phone, and he was thus, utterly unreachable.
I then suggested we just take the 20 minute walk home to see if Dad was being a lard and just not answering the phone. So off we went, leaving Mom to watch over the pile of groceries and homework. Halfway there, we hear a car honking its horn at us. Brian turns around and starts waving. Of all the odd coincidences - there was Natasha, on her way to pick up her new car. [What went wrong with the old one, Tasha?] I totally thought Brian was just messing with my mind, because I kept turning around at car horns, going, "Is it Dad? Is that someone honking at us?"
Er. Anyway. By the time we got home, Dad had apparently just heard the messages we left on the answering machine and was on his way out the door. Lard. Turn on your cell phone next time.

I think we may have weirded our neighbour Rico out a little. He was walking down the sidewalk towards us coming home from school. We'd just spotted Dad's car parked outside the house. We in full spaz mode. [Think along the lines of, "OH. MY GOSH. DAD IS GOING TO DIE. WHY DIDN'T HE PICK UP THE PHONE?"]
I'm glad we're home. I was still in full uniform. It was hot.
