So Vacation was nice-- got a banjo, well two actually. The first one I got was dusty, missing a string and had no back. My mom wanted to trick me with her old crappy one. But the banjo she actually boght for me is beautiful and sounds great. I wish I could be an instant virtuoso, but hey. Chris got a dulcimer *huzzah* so we should create our own hick band.
Michelle came from Michigan-went to Nature's Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts for the fashion show, Bill stole my car, Carol came from Sweden, etc.
New Years was good, Chris, Dawn, Katie slept over and we watched movies and ate.
I need to e-mail the Rangeley book store to get a copy of Hugh's Turtle Island Tree Psalms. I went to his wake. I only knew the man for a few days but he had a heck of an impact on me. Brilliant.
Indian Council Caves: Chris and I drove up to Barkhamsted to the Tunxis hiking trail to check out a 'cave'. Twas amazing! The hike in took an hour or so and ended up at a HUGE glacial erratic (least I think it's an erratic). Peanut Butter and Fluff. There were dog's ear lichens and ferns. I figured the cave section the Indians used was probably a power spot. And I think it was. We went in there and both chilled- I left a few hairs, and an apple (visualized). Tuned into the feel of the cave and it strongly suggested concern with the future and a forward motion. Hardly had to close my eyes or relax to feel this. Even Chris felt this way and he's kinda new to shaman-type stuff. There was a porcupine den in one corner and it was full of poop and there were quills all over. We took some.
Chapman Pond Nature Conservancy Area: Sunday I took another 3hr walk, with Cora and her family. It's in East Haddam and tis a great piece of land. Lots of old foundations. There's a huge rock area above the CT river and of course Cora, Gordon, and I had to climb up it, though it was wicked steep and unstable. Seemed to be some type of sedimentary rock-made neat formations and ledges. It was 70º! Drank water drippin' from the cliffs and howled. The top of the rock was mostly dead hemlocks.
I miss snow. oh, and Chris wrote that last entry with the Arlo Guthrie song, but he was right about his being wonderful and handsome *grin*
