Weary at the end of another battle, fighting back an ache that seems almost unbearable after seeing yet another widow's tears as she learns about the death of her husband, Kingsley finds refuge in the bedroom he used to share with Gideon. It's now an empty room: Kingsley never slept there after Gideon died. He moved to the guest room and only retreats to the master bedroom when he needs solace.

He sits alone on the floor, waiting for the welcoming presence of his dead lover. And it never fails: suddenly he'll see a wisp of a form standing in front of him, just as Gideon used to do when Kingsley came back from another such mission, ready to comfort him.

He knows Gideon's image is not of a ghost: his lover was too brave to become one. It's more like a memory, or maybe a figment of his imagination. But it's a presence that gives him comfort to go on and brings back the joyful memories of days long past.

Reinvigorated by the vision, Kingsley stands up and smiles as the image disappears slowly. Putting his hand on his heart, he says, "Thank you, love. Till we meet again."
