Yes, we are morbid. I wonder whether any of us would ship them if they were still living happily in Grimmauld Place. Perhaps MWPP wouldn't be so popular in that case.
The old-fashioned style is one of the things I love about the books. JKR sometimes reminds me a bit of Enid Blyton, though she isn't so prolific, sadly. She's a bit denser, I suppose, but I always think EB is very underrated. But there's the same tone to the books, the moral certainly, as you say, and that's really attractive.
There's a radio but no telly.
I never thought of it in those terms, but of course that would have a huge effect on Wizarding society, wouldn't it? Perhaps if they'd had Sky news, the war against Voldemort would have been fought more in the open and been more even-handed. Hmm. Food for thought there. And your 'old-fashioned food' reminds me of the reaction the Hogwarts students have to the terrible foreign food appearing on the tables during the Triwizard tournament... :D
