Your comedy fics, while wonderful, are almost about different characters.
I think the characters remain pretty similar in my head, actually, but they're obviously a lot happier when they're allowed to be fluffy and let out their inner frivolity! Still, that's an interesting point. Suffering definitely changes people, that's for sure.
Sorry to babble on like this.

What was the book, out of curiosity? Though I probably won't have read it, in which case I must!

See the tear tracks. But I also loved the light touches of humour.
"He hears his own voice, though he isn’t actually speaking. ‘I’m not sure what you say in a situation like this.’ He’s nervous too, but trying to keep the words light. ‘I mean, should it be something like ‘You look very elegant in your pyjamas’?’"
What is it about doomed love eh? Us S/Rs are a rather morbid bunch really aren't we?
I've been thinking about what you said about MWPP being very fifties. I think the style of the books is very old-fashioned in a way. There's a radio but no telly. The food is very old-fashioned. There seems to be a certain amount of moral certainty that I think even children's books don't tend have anymore. There are definitive good guys and bad guys. And then the language is very clean and the kids very innocent and clean living. Well obviously not in fanon. ;-)
Anyways how do you keep writing these wonderful stories?

Yes, we are morbid. I wonder whether any of us would ship them if they were still living happily in Grimmauld Place. Perhaps MWPP wouldn't be so popular in that case.
The old-fashioned style is one of the things I love about the books. JKR sometimes reminds me a bit of Enid Blyton, though she isn't so prolific, sadly. She's a bit denser, I suppose, but I always think EB is very underrated. But there's the same tone to the books, the moral certainly, as you say, and that's really attractive.
There's a radio but no telly.I never thought of it in those terms, but of course that would have a huge effect on Wizarding society, wouldn't it? Perhaps if they'd had Sky news, the war against Voldemort would have been fought more in the open and been more even-handed. Hmm. Food for thought there. And your 'old-fashioned food' reminds me of the ( ... )
